Yeah good point, I didn't eat anything either. There was a 15 minute break in between the run groups, but I don't think that was enough to count for anything and by the time the first group was finished, the "grill" had also finished. Bummer.

I got sick from standing in the rain and freezing....and can't take off work due to commitments. Sigh, this week is going to suck. :(

Run 4, really scary

Another "moment" from Run 5. Yeah, I was done driving after this.

And what is the significance of that? :poke:

QFT. All I see is a bunch of FWD cars (and some RWD cars) with better talent and proper rainy day tires beating me. Gender appliances don't factor into it, but maybe that's me.

Noah, I also thought we would have gone much faster with 2 25-driver groups and a break between sessions, despite the longish overlap, but things got stretched a bit by the weather. Out of your control, nothing you could do. It wasn't a unilateral decision, if I recall.

Sorry I missed this one, looks like a fun course. I had just finished mounting my new front bar Friday night too. Unfortunately, I'm out of town for Danville, so I won't get to try it out until June. :(

To give Maria even more props.....she was NOT on proper rainy day tires. Hell, Evo V12s aren't good in the rain, dry, cold, or hot IMHO :). She just drove the shit out of her car regardless of tires/weather/gender.

Though that electro shock therapy might have been the key ! ;)

Looking back, do you guys think I should have done split run groups so people didn't have to stand in the rain for as long at once? I thought 2 run groups were good with only ~50 people registered

The two group format is typical for the Rally-X crowd due to similar attendance numbers. The only difference is that we take a lunch break (and we typically have morning and afternoon sessions. The autocross event actually started at the typical lunch break time which complicated things (my appreciation and condolences to those who were there early to help with the EV). Our run group worked first and we just gulped down a bit of BBQ to eat then drove with greasy hands.
Nonetheless....great fun!

I am assuming that is a tongue in cheek comment. You did not want to be out there trust me

I think I'd have to agree, but it sure was fun!

Looking back, do you guys think I should have done split run groups so people didn't have to stand in the rain for as long at once? I thought 2 run groups were good with only ~50 people registered, but didn't realize we were actually going to run around the course twice after all, resulting in pretty long overlap times. Trial by fire I guess and now I've got better perspective on the whole thing. If you're doing something, and it's involving rain, then you're apparently doing it in hard mode.

Here's by fastest run: http://youtu.be/aEY33aGLCJA

Noah:

It probably wouldn't have mattered much. Once you are soaked you can't get wetter. :sing: You can always look back and think of how to do something better. Best effort in a bad weather day.

I finally had the discipline and focus (thanks to a 9-volt battery attached to my head) to drive it the way I know is right, rather than yahoo it up and try to be fast. I'm not sure it was as much fun, but I do enjoy a nice can of whoopass now and then :)

Also, I never saw a bigger bunch of wusses as on Sunday. It's just a little bit of rain, people! It really wasn't bad at all if you came prepared.

In retrospect, I 100% agree w/ this. Minimum 3 run groups from here on out. At the time it seemed like a good idea. As for eating, we were lucky to have been able to eat before we started the event, so at least that worked out.

To put it in perspective, I was hitting 55-56mph before braking into the sweeper at the end of the VDA and hitting the limiter (58ish mph) 2-3 times going into the pivot (or 2nd time going to the runway slalom). All I have to say is the Contis were nice yesterday.

On my final run (58.4xx) I did the VDA section VERY well compared to my first 4 runs which basically meant patience and minimal dorifto and tame throttle modulation. Then I get to the slalom and try to squeeze an extra 3-4 mph out and get very late by the 4th cone and have to damn near stop before the c-box since I knew the run was good and not worth coning so I bog from 2500ish rpms through the cbox to the finish without even having to go to 3rd and yet the time was good. I'm pretty sure Jeremy's car had low 57s in it.

I don't think I've ever been so weak on the throttle.

If only someone would have gotten some video of my agricultural excursions, those were interesting.

After dropping the bus off and getting the dog from my parents, we didn't get home until late. Final audit will be done tonight, and I will send results out to be posted as soon as I have them.

Thanks to everyone who came out.

I believe our webmaster is out of town this week so it will be sometime before we see the results online.
