It was just desert that Rob L. totally took out the Chicago box since it was his idea to put that cone way out on the exit. I told him that one of the experienced guys would be just cocky enough to push it too far. :P BTW, the Z06 is a great ride. Thanks for the ride along. I want a C5 badly.

That was one of the best first events that I have ever been to. Having the worker coordinators assign work stations when they people are called is much better than signing up at the drivers meeting. That way, you show up last, you get to walk to the farthest station.

I am as rusty and slow to react as can be. The car handled great. I don’t think that I ever really used all of the grip. I did however run out of go.

Great event, everything seemed to go very smoothly. It's a shame that John took me by about a second though. :)

Here is my best run.

James, you mind if I add this link back the Danville Register story? Might be fun to add the drivers perspective.

Go for it.

If you can get in touch with the Walshes they have some helmet cam up on youtube as well.

Thank you to all who instructed at the novice school and helped make this event happen. I'm glad everything seemed to go so smoothly for the first event. Also, a big thanks to Rob for helping me set up the school/event and for Maria for helping me figure out what novice coordinator is all about. Can't wait for the next event :D

thanks to everyone for helping make this weekend a success. Liz did a great job in her first day as Novice Co-ordinator - I'm glad my ex-wife was able to give her some good tips  Also thanks to Brice, MJ, Kevin for helping set up the course for Saturday and also to all those who helped make sure it worked on Sunday.

BIG THANKS TO ALL THE INSTRUCTORS!!!!! I know there were not enough of you so you did a great job. I have had multiple emails from students saying how much they learned and enjoyed it.

And finally thanks to the students. You all listened, did a great job driving and hopefully enjoyed yourselves and built up some new skilz

Oh yeah, I think I only took out about 2 cones of the Chicago box - the other 6 or so were out of the lane change although I might have missed a few since I was getting dizzy from spinning.

Have you considered looking into a lower horsepower car? I've read a lot and heard from people that starting off in a low horsepower car will help you develop a handling skillset that will transfer over to higher horsepower cars, like your Corvette.

Played around with RaceRender a bit and got it to overlay some data from my Megasquirt. Was actually pretty easy, I just had to edit the log and remove the header row and the units row then it opened it just fine.

I have a serious disconnect between what I thought I did with the throttle and what I actually did with it.

Nice overlay!

I logged data this weekend with Torque and an OBD Bluetooth adapter, but unfortunately it only updated about once every 2 seconds, which means an overlay will just look stupid with updates that infrequent. :-( In any case though, RaceRender ftw!

nice! I think RaceRender can take (almost) any data file in .csv format and overlay it...I have an old GTech Pro RR that (I think) can export in .csv, so I'll have to see if I can use it for speed/g-force data.

Thanks to Zach and Noah for finding this little gem of software. Zach, can you send me a copy of your fastest run so I can compare? Thanks!

Fun time for sure and I really liked the optional pivot cone section and the sweeper coming back across. I inadvertently countersteered through it on my fourth run but I'm sure it wasn't as graceful as Rodney and Stephen's tailwagging through there. Man 'o man STR is going to be fun this year as we're starting off with 15 entries at the first event! We just need to figure out how to reel in Team Beast Mode (Zach & Noah), but I'm not sure that's doable after yesterday's incredible driving.

I wish I could have been there on Saturday but I'm glad it went great and a huge thanks to everyone that volunteered this weekend to kick off a great autocross season for THSCC.

Now to find 2+ seconds but I'm afraid a new FSB ain't gonna cut it. Also, Star Specs rock btw! Highly recommended if you're one of the ones waiting on the Hankooks to come back into distribution.

At least 5 got stuck under your car and were dragged away according to the Miller Young'ns who worked that station.

I have a question about Racerender2. I downloaded it today, but when I add the videos (.mp4) they are all skewed like the old time loss of horizontal control. I can't figure out how to adjust for that. Any ideas?

Sorry for the hijack.

:brow: I have no idea, offhand. I just open racerender, select my splitscreen, then add video clip for each area. When I'm done and click <OK> the preview screen opens and both videos are presented in the chosen format...how it got offset to one side is weird. The original video file is centered correctly?

I did it with video from a GoPro and a cheesy Kodak Zi6, and both rendered correctly, so I doubt it's a video format issue. Anyone else have an idea?

edit: Gwen, under the <Display objects> panel on the right-hand side, single-click the offending video, then select properties. Then, use the arrow buttons to shift the video so it's centered. That may work. HTH

Hmmm. Not sure what you mean. Can you take a screenshot?

It's not off center. That's fixable. It's skewed very thin and at a 45 degree angle. I've tried loading a number of different videos and they're all the same. I'll mess with it more tonight when I get home. I'll post a screenshot if I can't figure it out. Thanks.
