Who's going? I see some NC club people registered, and am thinking of going. If I don't make this one, I probably won't make another National event this year since a trip to Lincoln, NE will cost more than a track weekend.

Help convince me to go... Anyone up for sharing a room, caravaning, etc?

John and I were planning to go but his house improvement and our lack of funds have kept us from signing up.

I'm signed up too! Can't wait! :sing: Really looking forward to it.

Any tips you might have for autocrossers experienced in the local scene but a complete n00b to the Nationals scene, please share. :-D

Where is everyone staying? I'm probably going to book a room today.

I am bummed I can't go, but stoked to see THSCC'ers on the national scene! Best of luck to all!

(just curious, but is the Dixie Tour always the second weekend in March? I have to claim my time off 6-9 months in advance for scheduling concerns, so it's helpful to know how consistent SCCA is with setting dates of Tour events.)

It was the 2nd weekend last year Steve, so I think so.

I wish I could get off work but it's a no-go this year. Last year was my first Nats event and it was an incredibly fun weekend for sure. Expect 25+ in STR.

Zach, I'm glad Jim recommended getting there the day before for the t-n-t to get a feel for the surface, plus you won't have to feel rushed if you're there early to get teched. I think it was like $5 for two runs and you can get quite a few in the time alloted. When you're working, try not to get the clipboard job, as you have to write each car and each numbered cone call (there's a microscopic map of the cone #'s on the back of the clipboard) unless you're quick at that kind of thing. It can be stressful but the work assignment flies by if you can handle it.

Walking the course after day one during dusk with a cold one is a relaxing feeling after a long day of racing and plan on getting out there on Sunday super early to walk the new (backwards w/ a few safety tweaks) course as much as you can. Since it's going to be faster that most of our courses, try to find 1-2 places that you can really hang yourself by braking too late and make sure you don't.

Have fun and you'll only be nervous until your first run, then you realize it's no different from all the events 'back home'. :)

If they don't have room we'd be happy to, Jeremy.

Just make sure to let me know who has them, and make sure they know to FIND us. Just tell them to look for two slackers, and a gal who's doing all the work. That should make it easy enough. :sing:
Actually, Tiny Blue and the Silver Lincoln Navigator tow vehicle usually is enough for people to find us. :)

Happy to help.

Gwennie

If they don't have room we'd be happy to, Jeremy.

We definitely don't have any extra room... We're driving just the S2000 and towing the tire trailer with competition wheels on it (which, as it turns out, don't even fit they're so wide!), otherwise we'd be happy to. Good thing Gwen was able to help you out.
