If you had your choice, which would you vote for? We will have to get more attendance to justify the increased cost of Danville, so we need to see some overwhelming response to justify it.

I think the additional cost of Danville would be justified by the likely larger attendance by novices due to proximity to populated areas.

I've been thinking about this and both places have the room. We are looking at a $300 dollar delta for Danville, but as its been discussed, there's simply more to do in Danville and better restaurants for the evening.

This is a double edged sword though. While we can get more students, we'll need more instructors and those instructors get in free at the next event, so we'll lose money there as well.

Where we need to focus on the novice school is pricing and what we offer. We going to include lunch? Typically we do. We could also consider some sponsors to help off set some of our costs. Maybe Dustin could provide some advice there.

Danville resembles civilization, so it gets my vote.

$300 delta is nothing....that's 10 paying folks and we WILL have at least 10 more paying folks at Danville than Laurinburg.

I'd rather pay $5 more to the club than $5 more to whichever gas station I stop at for the extra miles to L-burg.

It's settled then. . .

We will now charge James an extra $5 for every event held in Danville.

As for where we will hold this even, thanks for the input, keep it coming, I know SOMEBODY likes Laurinburg. . .

SANFORD.

where exactly is it that we are drawing our Newbs from? have we comissioned a market saturation study of likely participants? are we advertising ourselves at the Honda Dealerships these days?

since 80% of us reside in The Triangle, why wouldn't we hold a Novice School here?

i mean WTF do i know?

When you get the results of that marketing study, please forward it to autocross@thscc.com. In the meantime, please pick one of the poll options. We want to know where autocross newbs like yourself would rather go between those two options :-D

In all seriousness, novice schools are a barely break even, or a money losing proposition meant as a loss leader to get novices interested in coming out. Therefore, Sanford's cost definitely has something to do with it, along with the fact that generally, getting 40ish students isn't THAT tough.

Gots to spend money to make money.

With Street Survival being at Sanford in two weeks, I would think we could recruit a few folks from those ranks.

Too much gas money with a trip to L'burg or Danville unless we are recruiting for Triad.

People who won't drive to the venues that we currently have are no advantage to the club.Take your case as an example, you hate autocross so you won't go unless it's in your backyard and your daughter will suffer for that attitude. Once again you don't want to follow the club you want the club to follow you. Vote and have the majority of the members decide. Or have another beer

simply a different viewpoint Bernie. Sanford is always a good draw and in this time of economic stress a lot of people are going to look at the expenses involved with a trip out of town and decide to not drive 160 miles round trip. remember we are talking about broke college kids here mostly. keep in mind that the price of gas has tripled since you and i joined the club.

my desire to autocross has nothing to do with my opinion on what might be helpful to the Club. last time i checked i was still a member and as such entitled to my opinion.

my preference would be Danville purely for the surface. but i doubt we will attend. too far to drive and too expensive to spend the night. plus the kid has a job now, so weekends might be out for awhile.
