I'd definitely be interested in THSCC having events at VMP. It takes the same amount of time for me to get to Laurinburg as it does Petersburg, VA, and the site is very nice.

We ran quite a few events at VMP back in the old days, the cold rainy one Dustin mentioned I think was our last. I was not an officer in those days, so I don't know exactly why we stopped running there, it is a good site, heck they used to hold pro-solos there. I've run with VMSC there a few times and they really didn't have the shrit together either. I don't think we ever got really good turnout there being the main reason we stopped going, its a bit of a haul from Raleigh. They have a Sunday noon ordinance there as well, and I assume its pretty expensive, but worth looking into, I'd definitely attend an THSCC event there.

It takes me an hour longer to get there than to Laurinburg (2.5 vs. 1.5), but I'd rather go there, as well. It's about even from Liz' apt.

So, yeah, whoever's in charge of sites for next year, make it happen. :D

Yeah, the no timing display was a pain. Things were pretty weird for the first couple of runs, timing wise. They had Jim's first run at a 73. something, or a DNF, but they didn't know which. Since we knew neither was a possibility, we just considered it a sign of things to come.

I was handed a slip with 62sec on it - I knew that wasn't for me. :)

but when you look at the size and shape of the facility, plus indoor plumbing, :sing: I'd certainly consider it worth looking into.

HEATED indoor plumbing!

While I'm thinking about it-who was testing tire temps with the pyrometer on Sunday? I was so "zoned out" that I'm embarrassed to say that I don't remember. The results were interesting, however, and I do remember them.
The fronts on the Mini were 155 degrees all the way across, and the rears were 88 degrees all the way across, shortly after about my 3-4 run. Whoever I need to thank.....
Thanks.

Would our 8th Points Event be a good time to try it out? We still don't have a venue yet.

I hate to be the dissenting opinion, but that site is just way too far for me to even want to attempt it.

At 129miles and 2:24 each way is just too much for my blood.

I can honestly understand those reluctant to drive all the way there, especially those that live south of RTP or way east or west. However, I'm sure we would pick up a good number of VA entrants, looking at older results that seems to have been what happened in the past, we would definitely want to publicize this with other clubs in the area and RR-AX and any other forum. Considering the complaints of those who have attended the club events that are held there, they might be thrilled to have a well run event put on at the site, especially with that pimpy to wireless display of ours, much better than the guy handing out post-it notes at the end which has been the case at all the events I've attended there. :D Heck the VMSC events I've attended, they haven't even had final results and trophies at the event. We may lose some of a regulars which would suck for them and the season points race, but we may end up with a very well attended/money making event in the end. How many drivers were at the event this weekend?

I hear ya. L'burg is similar mileage for many of us (124mi for me). Given the surface condition and real restrooms, I think VMP is a great trade up! Either way, I'll be at the T&T in L'burg and event #8 at VMP.

For the eastern guys it's an easy drive to get there, and the site is worth it. IIRC, it has shade (under the bleachers) and real bathrooms correct?

It was limited to 75. I understand some walkups were turned away.

Correct, and the bleachers at VMP also make a nice course viewing spot.
