dont forget 45 pivot cones.

As GM of the event, I veto this idea for logistical reasons. The course has to flow in one direction, thus only even numbers of pivot cones will be tolerated.

8 Chicago Boxes please, actually they should be renamed Remchak Boxes, cause he loves them so much.

I was thinking the slalom could be in the form of alternating chicago boxes.

I vote for double walled alternating chicago boxes with extra ambiguous pointer cones leading to a 15 pace 36 cone slalom.

So, we should starting thinking about a different name than Circuit Cross. Check out this video of a circuit cross at VIR a few years ago and you'll see there are no cones:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VE9eok5kDw

I remember Chuck posted a great video (maybe photo) of this or a similar event at VIR.

This Z4 apparently got FTD from the title and if you listen, they get up to about the middle of 3rd and there are no cones on the course to slow it down a touch. I'm thinking something between this and a typical autocross in terms of top speed dictated by careful coneage with nothing to upset cars too much after a faster section of the course.

IMO, the coolest thing about it (in my humble option) is having a couple of decent, longer sweepers, ala Laurinburg in it's glory days along with a longer course with no super slow sections (::cough:: pivot cones). As someone mentioned, it's not really a Circuit Cross (which seems more like a time trial) so maybe we should just promote it as a NCCAR-F Auto-X or something along those lines? Ideas?

We definitely want to keep safety in mind and realize that most autocrossers don't have much experience when it comes to HPDE's.

As far a pivot cones, I'm with Kevin and I'd imagine they're a hell of a lot more fun in an S2000 than a FWD Gs car. Just bring fenderliner clips if you're lucky enought to be on 255's on 9" wheels upfront. 8)

Or how about the 30 cone slalom with every 8th cone a different space apart

Oh, yeah - at the NASA-X yesterday, Jon asked who wants to do a CircuitX at VIR March 25. Almost everybody raised their hand.

When I've done the ones at VIR, I've been up around 100mph in the STi and 80something in the 2.5RS. The only cones I remember seeing were the ones that marked the finish timer. I'll make sure Kooter doesn't do anything to make the one at NCCAR unsafe, and try to keep my STi between 3rd and 4th gear (about 75) - how does that sound?

I'm thinking leave the sweepers alone and add some things in the straights to keep speeds under control. Right?

I talked to one of the Grip Syndicate guys, well, gal, actually, yesterday at VMP. That's exactly what they did when they had that *autocrossy* time trial thing at NCCAR a month or two ago. She said they filled their limit of around 45 drivers and had 12 runs.
