I can't imagine the car being remotely competitive in DSP, STC, or DSP-TIR. I might consider HS-TIR but I'm sure some jackhole would complain about it. At the end of the day, it's my commuter car so I'm not gonna spend a fortune just to race it a few times a year. Sticky tires and crash bolts would likely be the extent of my mods since noone makes struts for it yet anyway.

Oh well, leave it to the SCCA Nazi's to ruin the fun. Yes, I said Nazi's. As in Hitler. Policital career and MNF sponsorship be damned!

I think it's BS that they disqualified that car but will let other, very similar models run.

Maybe someone can offer you a co-drive?

Do you really think SCCA fits these definitions? I really hope you are attempting to be funny while "venting". Even so considering the horrible things Hitler and his followers did your statement is in very poor taste.

If not I suggest you either join SCCA and take part in the rule making process or convince THSCC to make separate club rules.

Also, have you ever seen a car roll at an autocross? I have. It can be "not fun" (i.e. broken bones)

MODERATOR: I apparently started this as a new topic when I meant to add it to the existing Sonic thread. If it's possible, please merge into the original thread.

yeah, I offended someone. Last time I checked, the SCCA has not commit mass genocide BUT the Nazi's were obsessive about rules, regulations, politics, and paperwork. The similarity is obvious but I love it when people take comments out of context.

In addition, the SCCA has the word AMERICA in it. The Sonic is MADE IN AMERICA. Gotta love the politics of patriotism.

Well, apparently this is already being appealed with GM engineers actually invovled. Letter 6585 is the guy leading the charge. They spoke with the SCCA today and plan to have it resolved before the season starts.

David,

I'm glad to see that the SCCA "process" is working on the problem and that GM engineering cares. :D Nice thing about US based automotive engineers . . . they are typically very supportive of their product in motorsports in the US and are probably more easily brought into the situation. I'm looking forward to reading the Fastrack summary of the case the engineers make if it becomes published.

FYI SCCA is a voluntary member owned club with democratic processes (i.e. elected management, etc.) Here is a link to the bylaws.

If you aren't already a member you might want to join so that you have a vote.

Long time SCCA member (1975 or so) . . . even longer than my THSCC membership (1986 when we moved to NC)

I heard Hitler is still alive, he's been hiding out in Kenya (where he fathered our current president), and he founded the SCCA as a practical joke.

Give Hitler a big F U by boycotting the SCCA.

I have no dog in the fight over SCCA (I was a member like 25+ years ago), but the above argument is pure awesomeness! Especially the part about "out of context" .

In short your argument goes like this...

* SCCA is obsessive about rules, regulations, etc.
* Nazi's were obsessive about rules, regulations, etc.
* Therefore, the SCCA are Nazis

Here is some suggested reading...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_fallacy

My suggestion, suck it up and accept that your comparison is wrong before you dig the hole any deeper. The SCCA might not do what you want, and my have screwed up with the Sonic exclusion (or not), but comparisons to Hitler and Nazis to try to make a point just drives me crazy as well as (in my opinion) significantly weakens any argument plus hurts the discussion. Oh, more suggested reading...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law

;)

Off my soapbox, I am sorry about the Sonic situation David and hopefully it gets resolved.

Richard

ok ok, I will concede my analogy was in poor taste as I was venting. In the future, I will try to think of less politically incorrect ways of expressing my displeasure to boneheaded rules.

So no more scoldings posts please, lets keep this about my car.

So, since this thing is too awesome for stock class, I suggest a set of 15x10 wheels, 275/40/15 r-comps, adjustable coilovers and a boost upgrade!
