Bilstein even says the PSS9s are progressive springs, but it's a race spring (clearly not progressive) with a helper, which as a 'unit' is a progressive spring, but at static ride height, the helper is bound, so it's back to linear for the usable suspension range.

Hmm, hmmm.. You need to update your signature sir, and pick a number in STR other than 78. :stick:

Is it time for the test and tune in Laurinburg yet? I'll go ahead and send out the call for volunteers for setup day! There are perks to this. :car:
Bring your flathead shovels for weed excavation - we have some S2000's to learn. Judy's right, with all the events, this thread's going to see a gazillion pages.

I haven't spend much time at S2ki.net but this is definitely a cool thread with some interesting setups: http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/896624- ... cross-faq/

That's a good thread to see what Nat's people are doing. Here's my favorite general STR prep guide: http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/787645- ... r+priority

Not a waste of money, but they will require a little more work. If you change the spring rates and have an issue with the valving, they are cheap to revalve. $60-75 the last time I checked. They are also fairly quick at getting your parts back to you. They had my shocks back to me in 2 weeks and that is the norm for them.

I was curious so I emailed Fatcat motorsports about revalving the PSS/PSS9 for the S2000. He said he could revalve them and convert them to double adj with remote resevoirsif you want. He has a pretty good reputation for revalving/building miata bilsteins.

Ryan, do you have that info that you mentioned to me yesterday about this conversion? I don't see the parts on bilstein's website. I wonder if these parts can be used on their standard shocks?

Here's a link that shows the rebuild/revalve costs for the Bilsteins.

I am not sure Bilstein offers his service. The double adj kit he puts in is kind of custom. He can make the sport shocks adj also.

It's an expensive kit for the double adj. ~$3k. That icludes springs but not top mounts.

Shaikh will *not* revalve PSS9s. I just got off the phone with him. He'll take PSS9s and put fixed shafts in them or put his own adjustable damper shafts in, but the PSS9 adjusters are junk in his words. They only move mid range piston speed damping (ie 3-8 in/s).

So getting the PSS with a change in spring rate and custom revalve seems the best way to go short of entering the $3000 range (Penske, KW club sport, Fat Cat custom DA Bilsteins etc).

This website tends to agree with you on the PSS9's.

I think one of you should try to make the new Bilstein MDS fit.

So, running stock AP2 wheels, what size Star Spec? I'm thinking 255 and 245 (at most) up front for stock clearance from the fenderline and the coil spring.

245 seems like it would be too big for a 7" wide wheel. I'd go with 225 front, 245 rear with those wheels. Better steering response, and I don't think you'll have understeer problems from what I've experienced.

My 235/45 Dunlop sidewalls are almost perfectly square on a 17x8 (a couple of mm wider at the wheel than at the road), for reference.

Yeah, don't squeeze ST* tires on wheels like you would r comps....sidewalls just aren't stiff enough.

I thought you were getting 17x9s Matt?

Thats contradictory to what i understood when i won the azinies. Was told to pick the 205's over the oem 195's. I gurss with all things it simply just depends on the specifics

Edit: but i agree with the logic in this statement.
