Okay, for us hardcore junkies....check out the

Tidewater Sports Car Club's event on April 18th.

It is a smooth, level concrete site. It might scare some of the runway fanatics

From what Im told its not a runway but a "parking lot" for hovercraft. Its supposed to be a sea of flat concrete.

Ryan's correct... It's big, smooth and open. Concrete that only a hovercraft and autocross junkie would love. :) - AB

Remember to send an email making sure you get on the access list for the site. If you are not on the list, you can not play.

Folks at the recent Evolution school in Virginia Beach said the concrete at this site is perfect and it gets swept daily to make sure no debris gets ito the jet engines. Also supposed to be quite picturesque (for you photographers) with an open view of the ocean.

Is there any other required pre-registration for this event other than the access list? Any entry caps, or can I just arrive, pay, and drive as long as I've been added to the entry list??

I just signed up. It's good to be back in the world of the insane autocrossers.

Oh and if this is like other hovercraft sites I've seen, don't get lost on course or else. :drowning:

Sorry but having grown up right up the road and spent much time there, I can say there is no "picturesque" part of Va Beach :P

So, for those going to this even, I'm assuming that you are getting a hotel room for saturday night. Any recommendation for hotel, where are others staying?

I bailed out today on this event in order to do the Atlanta Divisional. If someone wants to sign up under #93, contact the registrar with questions. - AB

True. You have to go to Portsmouth for the scenery.

Les,

When we went up for the Evo school we stayed at the Quality Inn at 716 21st Street in Virginia Beach. The motel is located at the end of I-264 East as the interstate blends into the resort area. It was clean and quiet. Short run down to the beach. Relatively easy to get to Pungo air field but not sure of directions to ACU-4.

We also got recommendations for some restaurants and ended up eating at Rudee's (sea food, good but not cheap). I have a list of 3 restaurants the guys recommended that I can post if ya'll want.

Graham
