Sure can. This is what Greg Smith sent us for restuarants when we signed up for Evo school. Note that all directions are based on leaving the Quality Inn mentioned above:

There are three excellent choices for Friday night near the motel. (The motel has it's own restaurant too.) The first is called The Jewish Mother and is located at 3108 Pacific Avenue. Pacific avenue is the last street before Atlantic Avenue and the boardwalk. You'll turn right out of the motel and head down 21st Street until you reach the traffic light at Pacific Avenue. Turn left and go ten blocks until you crossover 31st Street. The Jewish mother is just on the other side on your left. Parking is available on the left in the lot adjacent to the restaurant. (Use the left hand turn lane for the lot.) They usually have live music on Friday nights (mostly acoustical) and the dishes range from home cooked meals to really fabulous desserts and side dishes.

The second spot is Rudee's Restaurant & Raw Bar located on Rudee Inlet. The street address is 227 Mediterranean Avenue. After turning right out of the motel, go down to the first traffic light (not the flashing yellow lights at Cypress Avenue) and turn right onto Mediterranean Avenue. Continue on Mediterranean until you reach the water. Rudee's is on the pier and has free valet parking (you'll see why when you get there. It's crowded!) Rudee's is on you left and another restaurant, Rockafella's is on the right. Go to Rudee's.

The third spot is on the way to Rudee's. After turning onto Mediterranean, you'll come to a flashing red light at 19th. The Beach Bully is on your right. Excellent barbecue and ribs if that's what you would like.

All three of these restaurants have been voted "Best of The Beach" in their respective categories for years. Any of the three would be a great choice.

I think there is a woman involved! See without her, your schedule would be like mine:
4/17-18 Tidewater SCCA
4/25 THSCC yea
5/1-2 SE Div SCCA
5/9 VMSC
5/15 THSCC yea
5/22 ?
5/29-30 SCCA Tour

Oh yea, there is a house closing and moving tucked in there somewhere. The big question is, will the crippled transmission last through June 15? :(

Sounds like you're free on the 22nd to bring the pimpmobile out to the rallycross...

I knew you were going to suggest that. I would love to play in the dirt, but not with the pimp mobile. Bowie assured me the pimp mobile would be a lot of fun on track  He insisted the brakes stop the 2 ton beast. Properly set up, 100 mph second gear is a lot fun.

100mph in 2nd? With an LT1 backed by a 4L60E tranny? What is the rear end ratio on that car? Must be very low (numerically).

Maybe you should buy those Brembo 4 piston calipers from Mark V. for the front to haul that beast down... :P

With the factory setup of tranny, rear axle, tires you could squeeze 85mph before you bang the rev limiter. You have plenty of legs in it when you get to 3rd. Downshifting it from 3rd to 2nd is gonna hurt, a lot...

My Chevy can haul 4 sets of clubs too! But your best friends have to walk

Now to get back on the thread. I wish I could have made this trip up there. That is supposed to be an awesome site. I'll make it up there this year.

Graham

So..... at what hotel are people staying - given that the only mentioned on this thread (Quality Inn at 716 21st Street) is 1-12 miles out of the way from the site?

We're at:
Quality Inn & Suites Oceanfront (VA314)
705 Atlantic Ave.
8th St. & Atlantic Ave.
Virginia Beach, VA 23451

Right on the beach, man 8) .

$89, though, but what the hell... It's the beach!

Rudee's sounds good. We need a place to rendezvous up there.

Anyone reading this, let's meet at 7:00 at Rudee's, wherever the hell that is...

Brad,

Go down Atlantic Ave from 8th st to 5th st. Take a right onto 5th. Just follow it and it becomes Winston Salem Ave. When it ends that is Mediteranean Ave. Take a left. Go a 100yds or so and you should be there. It is right on the water.

I had scallops and they were very good. The drinks were more expensive than I would normally want to pay but what the heck.

Graham
