Didn't the club purchase a weed eater earlier this year? Like the last time L'burg needed to be weed eated? I think there was one in the trailer earlier this year.

Well... I've actually mapped something out beforehand for this one. I have a total of 66 cones, including the start and finish cones, 4 worker stations and about a 25 second launch interval for the slowest of the slow. Hopefully the pavement will cooperate with the map.

But! I just wanted to get ideas from people about their favorite elements from 2011 (the v-shaped slalom will make an appearance, of course), and incorporate some of that, if possible. So give me them. Feel free to draw it and post a picture.

There will be a turnaround that will be FREAKING AWESOME if done right (and there will be a few different ways to do that)... and some people will probably not be overjoyed with it. But this one's just for fun, so do it however you want. I'll make sure I'm present during the novice course walk.

BTW, do we have a functioning wireless timer? And if not, how much good cable do we have? This will decide the fate of a lot of the current course map.

I'll be there to help with setup tomorrow, probably around 2-3PM, in my pushmobile Altima.

I like slow-in, fast out elements, elements where I'm above 4K RPM, courses where I need to go back to first, and drag finishes. 3rd gear courses are sweet too. Changing gears well is a driving skill too, and that needs to be tested.

I find sweepers and long slaloms boring. I get my sweeper fix on on-ramps and I can just slalom the reflectors on back roads.

Brice's super fast lane change at Laurinburg was a lot of fun...

Once I finish changing my oil, I will go in that direction. Probably be there about 1.

Yup, we bought one last year for the event I chaired in Laurinburg. It should still run fine, put fuel stabilizer in it.

The chicago box/turnaround at Laurinburg that I think Brice or Mary designed

courses that are open are fun.. probably get clobbered by all the minis, but oh well.. we rallycrossers deal with weeds all the time.. as long as i can see the cones, i am ok.. my car can handle weeds and grass. 3rd gear courses are fun with my car, very turbo friendly.
so much body roll though, it makes high speed transitions interesting.I must say though on dirt i have spun my car probably, at least half a dozen times. all that ride height and that top heavy body.. slaloms are interesting on dirt.

I had a lot of fun...really liked the course. You couldn't look ahead in some of the elements because of the bushes..which made it interesting.

wrx power on oversteer is possible in first gear. the turnaround was done by slowing down alot. turning hard, first gear.. then lotsa throttle halfway around..which would spin all four tires.. and turn the car around the turn with all four on fire.. then i straightened the wheel, and away i went. in turnaround conditions on gritty pavement.. with boost power on oversteer is possible.fun course..very fast too :sing: i was not lifting for long on that course, brake turn go like the wind.
that was my strategy.. only made a small number of mistakes really. open is fun, great awd course.
