Rule 10.2:
Quote:
To earn a year-end trophy, the competitor must be a member of THSCC. For Tarheel Sports Car Club year-end trophies, a competitor must enter and run at least one more than half the number of club events. If a competitor has run in a number of different classes, the class for year-end trophies will be given for the class in which the majority of events was run. If an equal number of events was run in multiple classes, the competitor will designate the class. Owners of late model green Miatas may be disqualified at the THSCC President's discretion.
You could run 5 events in 5 different classes and still trophy in one of them. Now if those 5 events were in 4 different classes, you'd be required to trophy in the class in which you ran twice.
As an example, Noah Fleming ran all 8 events. He ran three in CS (*) and came 3rd, which is his trophy class; he ran two in STR (-), 2 in TIR (-), and he ran the other one in X (-). In this case the class he ran most events in is also the one he placed highest -- this isn't always the case, and has no bearing on which class he counts for trophies.
Martyn, should the rule state "majority" or "plurality?" It makes a difference in Noah's case, since he didn't run a majority of events in any one class. It seems like the spirit of the rule is "trophy in whichever class you competed in most often" but using the term "majority" gives it a different feel entirely.
