I'm wanting to get the word out about our last points event nice and early given the low attendance this last weekend.

Let's talk to our friends and coworkers and get some new blood out there for our last event of the year.

Also, I'd like to find a first time event chair to help. I think we need to add to the pool of experienced event chairs. If you haven't chaired an event before and are interested, please PM me and we can talk.

This is going to be the most polarizing event yet: 360 degree pivot cone.

Something tells me Kevin Allen is on my side.

I'm sure this is a joke that I am not privy to, but, in case it's not, may I refer you to
The Course Design Handbook compiled by Roger "The Real" Johnson.

Seriously. 360 degree pivots are NOT an autocross element. This is Danville, where you can actually have a decent course.

Just my .02 worth.

Don't worry Gwen, Ram won't let that happen :). The general course arrangement we are talking about has no pivot at all.

James,
Thanks, I hate to sound like a grump, but we just always want to be careful that we present the best course possible. I should have more faith in my VPs I guess. :D

When I did the EVO school there was a 360* circle of cones.....maybe 30-35' in diameter. Courtney and Junior fully admitted that it was the worst element ever and never to be seen at any legitimate autocross event but that it was instrumental in getting students to look ahead. When one of the instructors literally grabbed my helmet and rotated it 45* as I was driving, I think the point stuck :).

Yes, I think that's in Phase I, and as you stated, is an exercise, not a legitimate element. And again, it was a "circle" not a pivot.

Gwen, see what I said about Andrew's sense of humor? :D

Seriously, I read a few online and magazine articles about course design. Not to mention I record most autoxes and discuss every element at work with James for a lot longer we're willing to admit to IBM.

It'll be OK, I promise :)
