Don't worry, while I was announcing, I publicly announced that Marcus McRae chickened out due to the weather because he was scared he couldn't keep that AP1 tail from wagging in the wet weather.

+1. Was glad to see a lack of pivot cone, because we would otherwise have been towing the Elise out of the marsh that had formed next to the track down there. I never did get through the turnaround without drama; everything else dried up pretty nicely in Heat 2 before getting a bit wet again right at the end. It drizzled on and off pretty much all day but never rained hard. Overall I thought the event ran really smoothly despite being a little short on workers, having a rolling grid, and disgusting weather.

My thanks too to Kendt, Rob and everybody who put this together. I wasn't keeping track of others' times during the 2nd heat (and was generally miserable throughout the heat due my cone-killing spree on runs 1-4), so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that that my 5th run was both clean and competitive. If I could have just started braking 10 feet earlier on the approach to that awful, wet, sloppy turn at the far right corner of the VDA, I would have really had something to brag about. I did brake earlier on my 6th run and got through it pretty quickly, but the rain had picked up and I had to fight off a tank-slapper on the final slalom.

Can't wait for the VDA expansion to be complete. That will truly be, to quote Rodney, "Autocross Nirvana"!

Yeah, I really don't understand the low attendance.....no other autox or track events going on. The weather wasn't looking too bad till 3-4 days before the event.

It was a very fun course....I think I learned a bit of 'guts' from last week's triad event after watching Ram do things I didn't think the car was capable of ;).

The bad thing is he could have actually launched his car without risking the tires or straining the car

It would have been great to have about 40 more entries but we made the best of a terrible forecast and actually got pretty lucky I'd say. I was planning for the worst so I'm happy that everyone got six runs and I think that the few number of spins/offs/and dnf's was a testament to NCCAR's grippy surface.

Did anyone else find that the limit was a little higher than they originally thought during their first few runs even though the course was still wet? Surprisingly it seemed the only tough part of the course gripwise was the start and the braking zone into the 'pivot box' we came up with at the end of the VDA. NCCAR is quickly becoming one of my favorite autocross venues without a doubt and when I showed up Friday and saw all the clearing that took place I was definitely stoked! Simon and Sam are great guys and really seem to enjoy what they do out there and I think getting off on the right foot with the EV Challenge was a great thing for the club's autocross program.

Cheers to everyone that rolled the dice and showed up despite the forecast.

That was a blast! There was still a bunch of grip out there, though I definitely overstepped the limit a few times, which was a bit terrifying :D

I just posted my video from yesterday on youtube. I'd love some feedback, I know I'm leaving time out there, just not sure where.

You lost a bit of time after the "Vee" when you did the extra 360  You are a little late on slalom entry.

I did notice the courseworker was not running out of the way during your spin so you didn't scare him enough.

Depending upon your car's drive layout, (Rwd) you might want to try lifting a shade earlier for elements like the pivots right before the slalom to get the back end around. If you are awd or fwd disregard, I can't help much they don't drive right :?

Lol, definitely uploaded the wrong video. Edited the original post to point to a run that I actually did well :)

Jeremy, the two things I'd probably say would have gained you a few tenths would be sweeping into the first of two "v" boxes before the turnaround and keeping it a little tighter into the lane change. Pushing out a bit makes the line a little more challenging (more steering input) for the rest of the LC and ultimately the top speed through the crossover where you hit the rev limiter.

I actually tryed short shifting but ended up finding that it was quicker, and easier to get settled, to run out first gear as you did in the first slalom of the line. Short shifting seemed to put my hands back on the wheel right as I need to be turning, which wasn't ideal.

Nice driving though and you're definitely getting quicker!

I think I got two almost completely dry runs. The rest were wet to some degree. Regardless of wet or dry, though, I was full throttle from the start to the first V-offset braking zone. AWD and fancy diffs make it easy, even with 1500hp. There was also a nice amount of 3rd gear after the crossover - thanks for that. And thanks for opening up the slalom the farther you got into it - I was shifting to 3rd toward the end.

Grip was really good when wet, but not quite like when it was dry. I did a fully wet fun run and drove the first part of the course as fast as I could, then skipped the slalom, just driving through its last gate. It was 0.1 sec faster than my fastest dry run. Best I could manage driving the whole course was 33's.

Had fun.

What he said.....although I wasn't on R comps all the little blue mini's runs was in the wet, at least for my six runs.

I saw your first run from inside the bus and I think it was a 34.X. After that, I kind of had a feeling you would have FTD in the bag. Nice driving to follow up your first FTD with another.
