So my Hawk HP's lasted six months and are completely dead after producing copious amounts of dust, and grinding noises. Overall, I don't want to buy another set because they almost work "too good" and are tough to modulate on the autocross course.

My favorites have been the Axxis (or PBR) Ultimates but they are no where to be found. They were basically everything I liked about the HP+'s but at 75% the stopping power, which was perfect and easier to modulate. Plus, the dust was something I could live with compared to the Hawks.

So, I need to find something between the Hawks and the Ultimates and was wondering if anyone had an recommenations. This is just for the front pads on my 3000# Civic sedan on Hoosiers.

I'd really like to stay with the OE Honda pads that I put back on the car, but the Civic's brakes aren't the best so the little bit of extra bite really helps the car rotate and the threshold braking is much better with the aftermarket pads.

thanks!

Do they make Porterfield R4S for our car?

I use HPS on my FF. HP Plus were too aggressive for the FF on typical sites and dusty. HPS's are neither. Basically just what I want.

The oem Akebono ceramics on our 97 and 01 Mustangs work well for street.

I now use HPS's on the front and HP+'s on the rear of the FFR. I'm 48F/52R weight on it so the back needs more bite. I tried HP+'s on the front but they would lock up under moderate breaking and too difficult to modulate. Dust, that proves I'm actually breaking better. LOL

So the combo now is Ultimates on the rears and the new HPS Hawks seem to be pretty decent. I may change my tune after NCAC as this weekend was a little damp though. They're a touch stronger at the limit but waaaaay easier to modulate before getting there. Also for the first time ever on the Civic, I have more brake dust on the rear wheels than the front, which is pretty unusual considering I could wash the car and have a visible layer of dust on the fronts just from driving to work and back with the HP+'s.

Thanks for the feedback.
