rumors..... we are going to attempt to resurrect our old e30 with a fresher engine. no guarentees yet, havent started.but we have a fresher engine at the garage, and will be swapping it over in the coming days. check back for updates.if everything checks out. we may go to nccar. but that is a huge if so far. :sing:

the motor is out of the car. now the other engine is going in soon. maybe maybe not, but we will try ot make it to nccar. we will see, keep your fingers crossed.

Sadly, apparently not:

Following on the discussion about using a portion of the track for an autocross...

I don't have any video from the BMWCCA Patriot course autox back in 2005 (just those pictures I posted), but Jackie and Ash just did an SCCA autocross at Roebling Road this past weekend, and below is video of her driving the course. She's not used to driving this rear-engined VW, er, Porsche (996) but said it was a very fun course.

It looks like it was a lot of fun, and it is the type of thing I had envisioned running at NCCAR perhaps starting someplace along the front straight (or even within the VDA) and then ending about 1/4 of the way through the 270 degree turn in the middle of the track (running the track clockwise).

Anyway, just an FYI post on the subject once again...

Here's another clip with Ash driving (his car):

Here is the course map for the Nashville tour. I am lucky I don't have the Friday before off or I might have talked myself into going. Looks fun.

FYI. Autox insurance will apply to a circuit cross and we have deposit paid for a cancelled track event at NCCAR that could potentially be applied to a circuit cross.

Look for info on said event next year.

James,

I wouldn't call it a circuitcross but just an autocross. As least my understanding of "circuitcross" events is essentially an open track where a partial lap is timed. I'm thinking of the Patriot Course circuitcross events here. They don't use any cones to significantly limit speed, change the driving line, etc, etc. I'm not sure if the semantics matters however other than from some not expecting an autocross like course perhaps.

We're going to use cones......there isn't ANY transitions at NCCAR so there will be some elements using cones on the track.....we have to give the miatas a chance :).

Sorry, we're miscommunicating here. I assumed we would use cones -- extensively. I was referring to calling an event at NCCAR that uses cones to limit speeds, alter lines through corners, etc, (as in the video above from Roebling Road) an autocross and not a circuitcross.

While we're on the topic, they're doing it on the 19th. I was just bored and was browsing myautoevents.com to see what's going on for the rest of the year. Maybe because I'm bummed about working this weekend. :(

http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frm ... t_id=12502

It's a relatively new club in Virginia and they're charging $150 @ NCCAR (& $10 to spectate) and are already up to 25 entries. Interesting.

I might. I don't need to be at work that weekend and was thinking about doing the NCR Blackwater event Sunday so it'll be that or this I guess.

Matt,
Interesting. I saw that one too while browsing. I'm wondering about course walks. Gates open at 8, driver's meeting at 9, first car off at 10. They don't mention course walks at all.

It's tempting, but I think I'll stick to going down to Wilmington. At least I can get good seafood on Saturday night. Hummmmm, unless I do both. (scratches chin)
