I see your point. Me personally, I think we need to strive towards first car off at 9:45 :) (ie really first car will be off at 10). Regardless, we have received feedback that 1-2 Saturday events per season would be desirable. Most of the people echoing this sentiment tend only to come to said events. Not sure why, I doubt it is church related.

Anyway, just relaying data.

Makes sense to me, although I'm missing my kid's soccer game to make it. . 945 will be tight to get started seeing how RR is a fair drive from most parts of the Triangle. Will be interesting to see if we get a good turnout for a post-Labor Day Saturday event. If it's low, maybe we slot NCCAR events into the summer months? Just a thought.

I said 9:45 in general. Not necessarily this event.

To keep that in perspective, we start our events (first car, that is) at 1030ish, despite our best efforts to the contrary. Would an extra 90 minutes delay be all that bad? Registration closes at 10, driver meeting at 1030, time for coursewalks, then first car off at 12? Is it possible to do driver's meeting during the quiet hour? A late start might have some sunset issues for a March, April or October event, but May-August it could work, just with a later start time. Sure we'd be later getting home, but wouldn't have to get up pre-dawn to get there on time.

We basically did the noon start when we did the co-event w/ the EV challenge folks. We wound up capping this event due to the late start.

I'm also a fan of having a few Saturday events. Where some folks can't come, others can. This is definitely open for discussion....

Assuming the stated day and start time is firm for this event I just booked a hotel (Sleep Inn) for Friday night and registered for the event.

Just for "planning" will this be the traditional THSCC "morning and afternoon" runs for all groups or the "all at once" runs?

Thanks!

Dick

Pivot turn? If so, likely outside diameter since I think the first course put a lot of cars into the dirt/grass?

We have an idea that will eliminate that, but need to see if it will work in practice.

How wide is the main straight at NCCAR? How does that compare to the taxiway at Sanford, for example?

I can't turn my STi around on the taxiway at Sanford without going in the grass (unless I use the handbrake). Tried it out at the last setup day; needed a few feet of grass. Turning radius is supposed to be around 35 ft, I think. I could just barely stay on the pavement at NCCAR without pulling the handbrake lever (it wasn't working that day). Driving the LizTi made it a lot easier, as her handbrake was working that day.

I won't mind if there's no handbrake turn this time, as my handbrake will probably have trouble locking up R compounds.

When do you not use the handbrake? :?

Mandatory quiet time from 11-12 on Sunday, hence the move to Saturday. Sorry Jeremy....

To keep that in perspective, we start our events (first car, that is) at 1030ish, despite our best efforts to the contrary. Would an extra 90 minutes delay be all that bad? Sunday events that launch the first car at noon would certainly be doable as long as you don't have 160 drivers show up and the event is during the longer days months, we have just chosen to avoid the hassle for this one and throw a Saturday event into the mix to change things up.

If I moved the event to Sunday then you and John would be there so you wouldn't let me drive since you'd have three drivers, that's why you just need to let me borrow Saturday. :D
