Yes, Jennifer truly did an awesome job! She was quicker than Chris on Day #2 and her times were close to the leaders. That was especially impressive since this was her first national event of any kind and those courses are not easy to drive well. I think she got faster on each run for both days.
Braun had 3 sets of tires (actually I think 4) to deal with the OPR (Other People's Rubber) build up. The OPR issue is a real pain. We experienced this quite a bit the past two years with Karl's S2000. What happens is that the hot tires pick up so much rubber that it negatively affects the handling and slows the car down. Hence, that's why he was putting fresh cold rubber on for each run. If we could have afforded it we would have done it too. Well balanced cars don't experience it as bad. The little tires on the front of the Lotus generate a lot of heat, so they pick up a lot. It didn't seem as bad on the Vettes or CSP Miatas.
We got a lot of OPR on our fronts before my last run and it helped, too bad I coned away a pretty good finish - 7th). Keep in mind we ran early in the day before it got hot and it was still an issue. It gets worse later in the day, especially towards the end of the week. You can combat the OPR by just having one driver and cooling the tires a lot to minimize pick-up. They have an area that is a wet skid pad to help you clean the tires off at the end of the day. We used a torch and paint scraper and it was not fun work. Having a second set of tires, not necessarily new is definitely a good idea if the tires get coated because there is no quite way to clean them. We didn't have any OPR issues on Day #1 as the course was mostly wet.
It was a really good event and we had a blast out there. Lincoln is a great host city with friendly people and plenty of good places to eat, drink, and conduct the mandatory post race BS/trash talking sessions
