I really wanted to go through the last lane change flat but my brain wouldn't allow it. Again it doesn't seem that there were any gains in shifting into 3rd for my car. (Keep in mind I have TALL tires for a CSP car)

I was also so happy when I found out I finally had a better time than Mike Miller, then I come to see he got a 60.3xx on his last run. One of these days I'll stop getting beat by stock Miatas, one of these days...

RE: Short's comment on momentum. I still need to look at the logs on my ECU to make sure I was actually flat on both runs but it looks like entering the C-Box on my last run a few mph slower cost me about .2-.3s by the time I hit the turnaround. I'll see if I can get some side-by-side of the two runs to show it.

Here is my fastest clean run. Comments welcome. I need to check my motor mounts, lots of movement on the shifter. :(

James. Your inputs in that tight slalom on the taxiway were very smooth and rhythmic. The steering sensitivity and the degree to which Ram's car turns instantly really confounded me in terms of getting a rhythm. I felt like I was steering and countersteering through the slalom the whole time in a very finicky, non smooth manner.

Sounds like you lifted well before you broke entering the taxiway cbox, or did I hear it wrong? I think I scrubbed too much speed off when braking there.

I forgot I was running video. You can see a course worker run as I am spinning. I am processing it now.

Oddly, the run where I missed third was also my fastest, cones notwithstanding. I can only conclude that smoothness > torque.

Let's face it Jennifer, even in 3rd gear (relative to 5th) neither the miata nor the elise has much torque ;).

Fifth, nothing! I did two elements with the clutch in! (I am SO bad at this...) :drowning:

Torque, did someone mention torque? I can tell you this, with 400 wtq and corded rear tires taking the lane changes flat footed was not even a consideration. The amount of speed Bernie's car builds up in such short amounts of distance is at times astonishing. He looked at the speedo during one of my runs and said we were topping 70 before hard braking in the lane changes. I was probably braking too much but I just never could build a ton of confidence in the rear tires and erred on the side of caution. The course was absolutely a hoot though.

Not the best camera angle or quality but I forgot the good camera at home. According to Harry's lap timer I was about .75 seconds faster than my clean run before the spin.

Don't know if I was walking back to paddock during your 3rd or 4th run, but how the heck did you manage to hit the 2nd of 4 cones on the outside wall of the middle lane change of the last element? I ran out and put it back for the corner worker called it in, but damn, you couldn't do that again for money! :whoknows:

And, you so do NOT suck!

I wish I had video, because it happened so fast that I don't have a coherent memory. All of a sudden I was sideways, with no clue how I got there. I know the rear tires are shot, but holy crap, sometimes that Elise makes my Spyder look tame!

Sorry man, I didn't take any photos yesterday except for the BMW, besides I had to work your run group.

Not bad Ryan, but I don't think it compares to my finish on my last run. If only the finish gate was a foot wider.
