Alright, I'll bite. What happens if you *do not* store tires in a climate controlled environment. Are we talking about a few runs less life? Do they get greasy? Do they harden?

Don't blame me, I left my tires in my shed all summer and it's been a scorcher. It's 100% tires and NOT all the cones and dnf's I've been picking up lately.

Maybe that's because the narrower but slightly larger diameter Kumho (so, even less torque) on the front of a front wheel drive-one wheel drive-less than 100 hp to the wheel n/a Mini isn't quite the same as rebuilt internal mods on an all wheel drive, greater hp car. :whoknows: And, didn't that car actually see the course on Saturday?

Would you like some cheese with that whine. :?:

Kevin also likes to pretend that he runs an "STU tune" (ie boost is not altered)......yeah right. You can look at his car accelerate and tell it's no STU tune ;).....STU cars are slow.

I'm not running X class anymore so I don't care. But there are people who are in the running for Top Gun and/or X class points that would care that an SM car is running STU pax. I mean this isn't a short shifter in a stock car or an aftermarket lip on a ST* car.

Steve, you're a trip!

I was totally cheating but I think I told everyone and those I did tell laughed. I'll admit that on Sunday in my class-crushing DS IS300 (kidding of course, but I still think one with the torsen LSD and a gillion dollar shock setup might be closer than many think) my offset was under by 3.65mm. I tried to get 5mm spacers until I realized that 'teh mattamatics' was totally backwards and a trip to T-Hoff would be my only solution.

Plus I didn't even accomplish my goal, DFL in X class.

Yep, overbored to 5.7 liters, compression raised to 15:1, dual twin-scroll turbos, the list goes on and on. Good for about 550hp at EACH wheel. I also had my Star Specs recapped with Hoosier autox compound.

Gwen - cheating is cheating, whether you get caught or not. Don't try to excuse it. There are people trying to win the Top Gun and/or X class trophy who wouldn't appreciate losing to a street prepared car masquerading as H-stock.

Also, I wasn't whining, I was laughing.

Dude, that is comical coming from you. Although I would have expected nothing less living in your little world.

We told everybody that mattered and nobody seemed to care. Like it would have changed the outcome one bit if we chose to run any of the other stack of 16" Kumhos on the rear from the dead tire pile. Or the other dead 15" Hoosiers on the front. We were just trying to make it through the event without having to change tires 3 times during the event. Or run on massive amounts of cords like we did last week.

Heck, from past experience this year backed up by the data logger, we could have run the Toyos that Gwen drove to the event on and the only thing that might have changed was that O'Malley might have barely slipped by. That still wouldn't have changed anything for anybody running for X class or Top Gun in Tarheel.

No worries. We'll be sure and bring the good stuff from now on.

Jim

OK, go ahead and bump me to FSP for my aftermarket front grille and shift knob. My emblems are painted too with a super aerodynamic coating known as flat black paint, that might move me to prepared. I'm a big cheater too.

Its a question of whether or not it provides any tangible performance benefit, at least when we're talking about competing on a local level. If Kevin is actually running an STU tune (and I have no idea what that means or whether its true) I say let him continue to run in STU. For a national event, I can understand the whole "letter of the law thing", I would plan to make my car ACTUALLY stock legal before I did anything national, but for local stuff, I say give him credit for some damn good driving.
