I think all of you ought to do the right thing and disqualify yourselves from this years competition, after all like Kevin says cheating is cheating period

Wow, thats an expensive end table, that ain't just any vette engine, its a DOHC ZR-1 engine, those are not cheap. I have plans to do something similar with the old block from my vette assuming the new one actually works.

Oh, and all you cheaters just need to start running in an SM class, the freedom to do as you please with your car without worrying about a rule book is great and of course PAX SUX anyways so why bother? :D

I can't run in SSM. I'm missing a blanking plate over my radio hole. Straight to D-Mod for me.

SM classes were founded on the "no wienie protest" philosophy and as far as I'm concerned will remain that way at THSCC.

OK, go ahead and bump me to FSP for my aftermarket front grille and shift knob. My emblems are painted too with a super aerodynamic coating known as flat black paint, that might move me to prepared. I'm a big cheater too.

Its a question of whether or not it provides any tangible performance benefit, at least when we're talking about competing on a local level. If Kevin is actually running an STU tune (and I have no idea what that means or whether its true) I say let him continue to run in STU. For a national event, I can understand the whole "letter of the law thing", I would plan to make my car ACTUALLY stock legal before I did anything national, but for local stuff, I say give him credit for some damn good driving.

Your grill and painted emblems are caught under the first sentence of 13.2.A (assuming the grill is actually heavier than stock, which chance are it is) and this year shift knob is 13.2.G

Hey, if I'm going to do things to my car that actually make it significantly faster, it's going not going to be SM legal (it's probably not even SM legal now). So I went ahead and signed up as XP. It still probably won't be as fast as a real STU car, though.

Brice - yeah, I reflashed to an STU tune for this one, since Liz was co-driving. Didn't anybody notice I wasn't spinning the tires through first gear this time? I wonder what it would've run with an extra 2-3 psi... might've been in the 55's.

Apparently, the waxes and emollients migrate to the tire's surface and in a sense the oils "evaporate" making the compound harder which translates to less grip. Bagging the tires also helps to limit the tire’s exposure to moisture, oxygen and ozone (also caused by electical devices) and to reduce the oil evaporation.

I think I found an alternative to storing them in my house, and they're staying at work behind my POS counter. I'm not too worried about anyone smelling them considering I have about 7-1/2 tons of recycled rubber nuggets (made from tire sidewalls) in the showroom.

I just tell people that if they had a more sophisticated nose, they would be able to appreciate the aroma of a fine set of racing tires. :poke: Prospective vendors find this especially puzzling.

Lowes has black duct tape and sheets of black plastic. Either one will close that hole cheaply and easily.

Do I need to take a picture of my nationals tires for the kart? I scrubbed them in then took them off the kart and wrapped them very tightly with black plastic trash bags before letting the air out of the tires. At least on the kart tires this supposedly keeps them air tight and keeps the gases/chemicals that would normally come out stay in and make the rubber even softer. Which is what I am hoping for this coming week. Though my tires are already soft enought that the kart actually sticks to the ground when the tires are warm and you try to pick it up.

Brice aftermarket shift knobs were made legal in stock class several months ago. You're safe. :)
