You haven't seen Jadrice running his S2000 in B Stock obviously. He has top Paxed 3 or 4 National Tour events this year and he runs with CCR and sometimes comes out to Triad events. With the NCAC at Z-Max if the courses are anything like the last 2 courses I have run there I wouldn't count on H Stock being a Pax machine as there is just too much room to run for the higher powered cars to use their power and grip.

I’m not in the same league as Jadrice. I was speaking from my point of view. I guess a better way to put it would have been, “don’t count on me and my C stock car to be a PAX killer.” All the talk on the forum has really gotten me excited about running the NCAC at Z-Max. It sounds like the Miata will run out of everything; horse power, grip, and gearing. The RX8 may be the car to have there in C stock.

zMax is big, but CCR is pretty good with course speeds. I rarely if ever topped out on 2nd at zMax in the WRX (71 mph) but have numerous times at Sanford.

Also, my point was that a stock class car with race rubber is generally 80%+ prepped to the PAX fraction. Whereas an ST* car on street tires and only lowering springs or an intake, may have a lower PAX fraction, but are only prepped 50% of the way there.

I think one of the issues with that is, it doesn't look good to make the suggestion to kill it when you don't stand a chance to win it. If we win it this year, that would be the time to make the suggestion. Suggesting to kill it last year would have looked like a way to prevent Triad from winning it. That's not to say that we still shouldn't have thrown the idea out there.

OR, suggesting it now, so that the representatives from each club have time to discuss. No single club should be in the position to unilaterally kill a historically "key" aspect of the event, and it would show significantly better unity across the state's clubs if the execs could come to an agreement on this up front, IMO. The longer anybody waits, the more drama will come of it.

I kind of agree with Karl. I say get rid of the cup. I don't think it really adds that much to the event and causes some members to have to choose which of their friends they want to compete with, therefore alienating their other friends.

I also don't see where the Club Cup is a "historically significant" part of the event. The earliest mention I can find of it is THIS post by Stephan in June of 2006. And the INFO for the 2006 on the site.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that it was a longstanding tradition... in fact I believe it came into play during the Holton era.

I agree that it should die - if for no other reason than the drama that follows it.

Yup, I, unfortunately, was one of the catalysts for the Club Cup creation. I thought it would punch up the event a bit and add something of importance to the event to help spur attendance. FAIL, its created nothing but bickering about the rules and ill will amongst friends. :(

I don't know who Triad's president is this year, as I've gotten pretty far out of the loop on that sort of thing. Last year, it was Chris Cline, who is among the nicest, most thoughtful people I know. I did run the idea of getting rid of the club cup by him. He seemed to like the idea of getting rid of it, but said the same thing some of you are. He thought that his membership might get the wrong idea if we (THSCC) suggested getting rid of it while we don't have it. And perhaps they would.

In any case, senior leadership at Triad, as of last year, was made aware of my desire to get rid of it. They seemed open to discussing it, at a minimum. I don't know if those discussions ever took place.

I agree Karl, Chris is one of the nicest dudes around for sure and he is the prez this year again. At one of their events last year (Dixie), I really didn't know too many folks and as I was changing tires he came up to me and introduced himself and then Dave came over joking that my Civic appeared to have 'positive chamber', which it totally did because the suspension hadn't settled after I had just lowered it down off the jack. Making fun of Hondas never gets old especially when you're 'battling at 8k rpm in vtak yo!'

Not to beat a dead horse, I think the cup format is almost impossible to make fair for every club in NC. IMO, it would have to be combination of average Pax because some clubs obviously have a lot less entrants due to club size or distance from their respective towns to the venue.

Personally, I think the NCAC is a great time and it's fun to aim to be 'state champion' for a year in your open class competing with cars you don't normally get to see.
