Sorry about that Dick. I felt bad for making you believe otherwise when I saw that during the Audit.

Me too. I have NEVER done that before in decades of autocrossing.

Well, at least I am in good company :sing:

I'm with you guys. My first run was clean so I turned it up, coned, then two back to back dnf's. Ouch!

I think we made the entrance to the slalom a little too tight and it broke a bit of the flow, but live and learn. Accelerating in a slalom is sort of fun. :P

Let me put things in perspective for you guys complaining about coning away runs. I have two clean runs.

OK - there's gotta be a year-end award planned for this one. Who can we name it after  ?

NoNOnO It didn't break up the flow in my opinion. We very seldom have slaloms that do anything but stay static. When they increase or decrease it makes you think. The only "disruption" was seeing the pointer cone on the exit of the turnaround and mistaking it for the 1st cone in the slalom. I didn't do it, but I pointed my student the wrong way :stick:  .

I thought the course was fun and ended up being about as fast as I thought when I walked it. I drove too slow on my first run and didn't get out of 2nd. Then I started getting coney including the first pivot cone after the start :stick:

Stephen,

No problem. The runs were done by then anyway and I was actually surprised that even one run was "clean" since I thought I hit cones on them all. Since even my best raw time was far off the pace my goal was to figure out how to go faster by driving harder (no luck on that unfortunately). The problem was that the combination of my sloppy driving, less than optimum tire stick, and possible wrong car setup didn't cooperate. Either I would simply cut too close or the car would get loose and I would be "forced" off line.

The really good news is that the car ran perfectly (it and the engine were all in many pieces last winter) and I got solid data for all 5 runs on my new Race-Technology Video4/DL1 system. Now all I have to do is learn the software and figure out what worked (if anything) in my driving, and what didn't (if not everything  ).

Dick

I was thinking that or Mauldin. I was running pretty dirty myself Sunday, I did manage one clean run fortunately, unfortunately my driving sucked majorly. I was well off the pace of where I should have been, not sure how much of that would be due to cord showing up on our rears. That's a little disappointing as that was only about 86 runs on those tires. I guess Bernie's car isn't quite as easy on tires as mine, I think I have a good bit more camber. I'm really not looking forward to the expense of another set of tires as I've been spending money like mad recently. :(

Les.
Seriously, just flip them. There's only what, 3 or 4 more events this season. That bit of cord on the inside probably wouldn't even be part of the contact patch under power. Worth a try anyway.
