Thats what happens when you have a site that all the hazards are knowns. You would never be able to do that in Laurinburg.

True, but D'ville, Sanford, NCCAR are quite different from L'burg....

A lot of CCR folks live in Charlotte/Concord and can just drive over to zmax and do some setup/tuning to get an idea of how the course is. Not too many people who chair events in our club live right near our sites.

Plus as most ECs find out, you can draw the most insanely thought out course and then set it up and it feels bad and you end up doing a lot of reconfig such that the original map is almost useless.

Danville and Sanford still have some things you need to plan around that aren't always easy to know about.

Not to mention, unless you have REALLY experienced course designers, its hard to know for sure that your course will work with the spacings laid out.

I just realized that this will be the third new (to me) site I've visited in a month.

That's really neat how they can get a rough idea with just google maps and Paint but there's nothing wrong with a little improv along the way with some cone tossing out the back of the trailer as long as it's safe and doesn't have any sections that 'bottleneck' and scrub of all of your momentum, especially at the finish if it's not needed. Just my preference...

So I went back on my original decision and decided to make the trip because the site is so good and the level of competition is quite high. See everyone in the morning!

That was fun. CCR definitely runs a tight ship.

Doesn't seem like many of the THSCC'ers made it down there yesterday?

Marcus, how was launching on that sealed asphalt :).

Launching? What's that? I had a good tome but the course did not thrill me. It was not as fast as I thought it would be after walking it.

There was myself, Matt, Lee, and Jeremy.

ZMax was a blast! That site is definitely worth the drive.

Good time for sure! That site is unbelievable with lots of course design options even with the light poles and drainage grates.

I felt like I couldn't get into my rhythm and was getting late/pushing in a few sections but I think I got spoiled by the grip in Delaware and NCCAR. Plus, there are some really amazing drivers 'out west' that definitely know how to get it done.

I'm definitely going back to Zmax for NCAC if I can. One interesting touch was a 32" flat screen setup with up to date results posted as the event went on.

I agree with the grip there though it is sealed in a lot of places and there are plenty of oil spills as it is a drag strip parking lot. I wonder if beer stains make asphalt slick ;).
