NCCAR site is certainly a great piece of asphalt. Without the EV car restrictions we will definitely be able to set up a longer course there next time and do some things differently though I personally really like the long fast slalom and even the pivot cone. In regards to the mostly unpopular pivot cone, I told folks that it was just as wide there as Danville taxiway where we have done many pivot cones, however from my rough google satellite image measurements it does look like it is about a foot narrower and most people were only going off by that much so I guess that extra foot made all the difference. Regardless I like pivot cones because I think they are a good test of proper patience and skill, especially when I remember I'm in a Miata without ABS. I doubt I was ever within 3 feet of the grass on exit of that pivot cone yesterday and yes I was in a Miata, but I doubt I would have had trouble in a vette either. I rarely have trouble with pivot cones as long as I get my early braking done and get slowed down enough to not push out on exit, this is the key, where most people were pushing out and dropping a tire off I was already pointed in the right direction and full throttle in first gear. Most times if I had a passenger, they probably could have reached out the window and picked up the pivot cone. Anyway, it will be up to future ECs and GM whether or not do that there again, if it is done again, I think we should maximize it a little more and make the pivot much further down and have some other course element on the track before that to extend the track distance and possibly make the pain of the pivot more worthwhile.
Thanks again to Kendt for letting me drive his truly "smurfalicious" Miata. That much Hoosier and a nicely set up Miata on a course like yesterday's is one helluva lot of fun, I'd forgotten just how much fun a Miata can be. The only thing that could have made the day more fun, not hitting that stupid cone that jumped out in front of me on that 33.5XX run costing me the FTD.

Congrats must go out to Matt though for wheeling the shite out of his Civic, total domination of PAX and raw, great job man, your "#1" as I told you yesterday.

I used to hate pivots too until I got it through my think skull that that extra 5 feet of accelleration will not gain me anything and will cost me time so slow down and be against the cone. I never had a problem getting around it although my $#$%^&*(##^ car was so slow that not much braking was required. That first cone after the turnaround was pivotal in being able to keep the power on through the finish.
