wow....sorry I missed that event. The "undefined apex" turnaround with C-box is something I would've loved to have 6 shots at getting right....although I likely would need something more like 10-12.

Glad it went well. looking forward to NCCAR!

I hate I missed it too. My MIL is on her deathbed and I am driving alot between Wilmington and Goldsboro so we can be with her as much as possible, help take care of things etc. Lord knows I need as much seat time in "Frank" as I can get before heading up to the NJ Prosolo in May. Glad it was a fun event for all!

<--Really is just Mad that the CSP war has a leg up (event) on him now

It was totally DESIGNED for you to get FTD.

Then again, it looks like it was more of a miata course judging from the times. . .

I hate working the course at autox and I must tell you about it, often.

I have to say after not AX'ing for a long time I'm having fun. The course was a blast, the weather was great, and 6 runs. A very good competitive class in CSP. This season should be entertaining. After going down on Friday to do setup for the school, then doing the school, then setting up for the event, it made for a long weekend. It was worth it. Even with all the threats of bad weather.

To everyone who didn't go for the points event I would also like to say thanks. Since you all stayed home I got 6 runs instead of 4. Please stay home more often.

Here's video of my first and slowest run from yesterday. The course had a really nice flow but was difficult to master, especially the turnaround at the end. I want to see more elements like that in the future. Kudos to everyone who made the event happen!

I have to give credit to my wife for the finish (it was her idea), I thought it was a VERY interesting element, and different than anything I've ever seen. I went through it smoothly on most of my runs, but wonder if I gave up time by staying too wide. It really made you think.

I was trying to make you think on the sweeper too (that was my idea) with some of the cone placements, but when I drove it, I now realize it was just a "pedal on the right section". Fun, but not so much a thinking element. . .

I could count the seconds I blew on the chicago-pivot every time I plowed through it. I finally took the advice I gave my students on Saturday (no pivot on Saturday but I kept telling them 'give up time entering the turnaround and you will exit faster'). My entry into the chicago-pivot on the 40.7 run was slow enough that I was able to get back on the throttle 1/3-1/2 way around and power my way out without worrying about the exit cone on the right (going counter-clockwise). Now worrying about the 'expensive side' of the finish was definitely a thought since the pivot was faster (not that it would be the first piece of finish equipment to die by the hands of this Miata) . Other than nailing every other element on that run  hitting the chicago-pivot right was what got my little 100HP miata in the top 5 raw :car: .

I think Mary disappointed that I wasn't more horrified of the prospect of navigating it in a big car --- but I have to admit, it did leave everything up to the driver's imagination. I think I fouled it up six different ways, a couple of times fighting a low speed push at the halfway mark (probably the gritty surface + off-camber + trying to get on the gas too soon), and on one I turned in too well and almost (I think) ran over the center cone, steering away to avoid it. My last attempt was almost right, and in my excitement I pushed little wide on the last sweeper, and though I cleared the timer cone, I hit the one before it.

Anyway, I on my drive home I noticed this little button on the dash marked "TCS", and then realized that I did not push that button all day. I'm only aware of the traction control really kicking in once during the day, but ... hey, there's my excuse! I'm an idiot! (And forgetful.)

Man - that looked like a good course - now I'm even more sorry I missed it
Even if I would've been seriously spanked in CSP it would have been fun.

I'm going to put Keith S on the spot.
I know he has video of his FTD (raw).
Let's see it!

I couldn't figure out the chicago pivot. I was off the throttle passing the double cone gate and I just idled around it like an idiot....yes 6 times too. I needed to accelerate at least somewhat past the entry gate before braking.

Looks like Mike Miller got plenty of 'yee haw' at this event with a 2nd place raw time :).
