Does this mean Noah and I are still doing course design? First-time venue, first-time course designers... this could be interesting.

I agree! I'm really psyched on this happening, so big thanks again to Rodney and everyone else that could scope things out last Saturday to make sure we can add this to our venue list.
Zach, you guys will knock it out. Jot down a couple of elements that you'd like to incorporate. In my short (and very humble) experience with course design, it's all about how well it flows, not having sections with too many inputs at once, no overusage of cones (sea of cones syndrome), not too much overlap, and a safe finish with a straight braking zone. The big killer, is having a course with great flow and then a section that totally just captures all your momentum with too much happening at once, leaving you with the feeling of "creeping" out of the element. Here's some good stuff in Roger Johnson's manual:
http://delta-scca.org/club/maps/courses ... design.pdf I thought it was interesting that he mentioned making the finish, the start, then filling the rest in.
Plus, the GM will be there to help you guys arrange the cones that you just chunked out of the trailer randomly during setup. I was a bit antsy before I chaired for the first time last year, but when it sets in that you'll actually be driving YOUR configuration, it's a warm fuzzy feeling.
