interesting...I keep forgetting about Cobalts--didn't know they were ~2800 lbs! But, also didn't see how it made -2.3 up front without aftermarket camber bolts...

I don't know how much a Cobalt SS weighs. I was just mentioning those 3 cars as comparables that happened to be D stock.

Cobalt SS weighs over 2,900 lbs. J-cars are heavy. Ask me how I know.

I'll defer to experience over Wikipedia, but the Wiki lists weights as 2815-3000 {shrugs}

Vincent needs to think about in autocross trim. My STi is supposed to be 3395, but in autocross trim, it comes in at 3190#. - AB

Ok, the answer is G stock and the car is the Neon SRT4 ACR (Sorry Tom, but the ACR is WORLDs away from the regular SRT4). The SRT4 has next to no front camber, 17x6 wheels instead of 16x7 on the ACR. Benign spring rates, open diff, small rear bar, normal seats etc.

I never looked at particulars of G stock till I got the Civic. But the ACR is absurd. I hear through the grapevine that even a few ACR drivers think it is a D stock car too.

It has a 'stock legal' camber mod where the FSM says to grind the strut clevis holes by up to 2.8mm..WTF?

Is it just me?

I love all the C stock guesses ;).

Haha, well even if I hinted at it being sort of right, you ruined the point of my thread. By saying no, I got all the C stock and D stock replies (mostly D) that I was expecting ;).

Yeah my Z-24 comes in at 2,950# with the roll bar and a half tank of fuel. Add in 210+# for me and it's damn heavy for a 150HP car.

Why do you think I said it's the car to have for G-Stock? Only made in 2005 too. It's a beast. - AB

Actually only the 03 SRT4 had an open diff. The 04-05's got the same diff the ACR has. Everything else you are correct on. GRM ran an 04 SRT4 in DS with Mark Daddio driving it. I think he managed 4th that year at Nationals but they had to run positive rear camber to make the thing rotate.

They are the car for the class in GS if you can keepthe axles from breaking all the time.

Glad to be of service.

To actually add something on topic, I've driven both a regular SRT-4 and an ACR, albeit not back to back. Both were off-the-dealer-lot condition, so it's very much apples to oranges vs a properly prepped stock-class car. Anyway, the ACR rides a little better because of more sidewall, but that was about the only thing I could tell the difference during a law-abiding test drive. From a pure tactile perspective, it's just not a car that "feels" good. It was a beast in a straight line and had good brakes, but the steering and shifter did NOT inspire confidence.

The counterpoint to that is that I've driven an '09 Civic SI, similar to yours. Aside from the higher-than-anticipated shifter effort, it was a car that I was immediately comfortable in.

Oops, sorry Keith, I thought all the regular SRT4 had opens.

Yeah until a few days ago I didn't have a clue how big a difference (from an autox perspective) the ACR was from the regular.

Tom, my point behind this was not to say my civic would be next in line if we got the ACR booted...I knew it was sort of a GS underdog at the national level and I was fine with that.

However in reference to your driving of the two cars, I bet off the lot they had NO front camber so after you get your dremel out on the ACR and do your 'stock legal' camber mod, it might have been a different story :).

Blah, blah, blah. I've only got one question about this here Ne-on-S-R-T-4-A-C-R: Does it come in Blaze Yellow Metallic? Because that's my favorite color today :D

Art, you talk a good game but would you ever buy a car with a bling color like that? I didn't think so.
