Hi Mike,

it's OK to yeehaw when exiting features, but not during entry. Or, as rally legend John Buffum says, "in like a lamb, out like a lion." We make time up on exit, but tend to lose it on entry. Just my 2 cents worth.

What Eric said! Also, keep in mind that if you exit a corner better than you did on the previous run you better not brake later at the next corner since just the fact that you are going faster makes the same braking point effectively "later".

FYI I don't "do" yeehaw but I sure come in from really good runs with shaky hands!!!! :-)

Damn, I've always thought Yeee-Haw! was the point.
After reading all this talk about game plans and thinking about the course and what you're doing has got me really confused.

Eric, believe it or not, this is not the first time that you have told me that. It has sunk in. I actually tried to put that to practice along with working my braking window to try to keep the front loaded at entry. Thanks for the advice. BTW, there aint much lion to let loose in a Miata. Think perky rodent.

Keith, Sorry to confuse you. Sometimes I am thinking too much about what I'm doing resulting in slower times and other times I am over driving the car and having fun, resulting in slower times. I think that what I have figured out from this trail and last weekends TnT is that one has to find ones balance point. We'll see how successful I am this year. Last year I actually got slower, I didn't have a good game plan and I tended to overdrive.

My dad gave up on fast ages ago and went all-out fun. I have found that a nice, solid spin draws a lot more attention than placing first anyway! 8)

So really, it's all about your goals.

Did you get slower or did your competition get faster?

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.
