Well, there is still a lot of work to be done between now and next Friday for the car to be ready, however it did at least move under its own power last night for the first time in over a year, so its progress.

Anyone have a truck and trailer and some time to help me get this thing to an exhaust shop so I can quiet it down just a bit, its a little ridiculous at the moment. :D

Hopefully, I just have to get a few hundred miles on it. I've already talked to Jeff Creech at CAM and he said he can work me in next week.

Les, Where are you located? If you're not horrifically far I should have some time after work Friday or sometime during the weekend.

Well, more progress, drove it 35 miles today from exhaust shop to my house to work. So far, no mechanical issues, though a couple odd electrical ones like the windshield wipers deciding not to work, that made the drive in a lunchtime interesting. Also something is wonky with starting, this existed before but for some reason has gotten dramatically worse. I'm hoping its the clutch switch and I can just bypass it somehow. However if these are the only two issues I encounter, I will be thrilled. Its actually looking like this thing might make it down to Charlotte next weekend!

That's a good question, its not looking so good so far. I've only gotten 70 miles on it, still having harmonic balancer and belt alignment issues, makes it kinda hard to put miles on it when the accessory belt won't stay on, otherwise though, the engine seems fine so far. Drove it around some last night and actually got on it a little running up to 4000 rpm and 1/4 throttle, she is definitely feeling strong.

Let us know if you need some help. Ram's suspension won't be coming this week so I have no car projects on the books.

Thanks for the offers guys, but at this point all that needs to be done is getting the belt to stay on long enough that I can get 400 more miles on the motor by Friday, not looking very likely unfortunately.

Just let Ram borrow the car, I think he put 600 miles on the Cayman the first weekend he owned it :).

Negative ghostrider. He needs to stay under 4k rpms, not bouncing off the revlimiter with big ole grins like you two hoodlums.

Good luck with getting a fun car to codrive Les. What about your Miata or is that sans race tires?

From the torque spec Les keeps mentioning, I'm pretty sure that going over 4k rpms will be highly unnecessary :).

Indeed, she is a torquey beast. I managed to put another 100 miles on her tonight wandering aimlessly about the back roads around my house. Lots of moderate throttle acceleration from 0-60, she is REALLY feeling strong. Still not sure if I'll be able to make it to the event this weekend, but if the belt continues to behave itself and I can do another similar 100 miles tomorrow night, there is a chance I can get it on the dyno Friday and run it this weekend. I really can't wait to feel this thing full throttle to redline, its got tons of low end torque, but I put a 6000 rpm cam in it for a reason.
