Thanks a bunch Colin. I updated the original with the highlights in blue. We can use a couple of volunteers on Saturday to help with course clearing and setup for those interested.

PM me or just reply here to be added.

I'll help out at the Gate too. I plan to get there early anyway. :D

The courses are set up. There are two of them, one timed and one untimed. Very similar to the novice school setup a year ago. Lots of fun.

Gate will open at 7:30AM. We'll try to minimize the number of worker stations, but the gate workers may need to work the course.

If you like a clean course, you may want to get there early and grab a broom. We chopped and swept the line, but if you like to drive off-line, you may be unhappy. lol

I think that's about it. See you tomorrow.

Great time everyone! A big pat on the back to everyone that kept the wheels turning to make this a success. Two notable extra 'thank you's' go to Cash and Colin for pulling a double work shift and James for leaving the Rex at home at the 11th hour (with fresh race tires to boot) to drive the bus there and back.

Anyone learn anything new? I learned on the slaloms before the finish on the timed side, that sometimes just lifting and not breaking (even momentarilly) can help with speed and line through the tight sections where patience is a must to get back on the throttle and keep the right line for the next element. The lane changes on the way down to the turnaround were tricky too, but I practiced sighting/scanning (looking down, then up, then down again, etc..) to make it through a little quicker instead of just having tunnel vision on the cones I didn't want to hit.

I learned:

A) Matt's Civic SI has a lot better brakes than the WRX
B) Kevin's STI has f-ing amazing brakes
C) Adjust your driving when Matt says he played with the dampers and the car is looser :)
D) Rodney's Mustang (you guys know I hate to say this!) was actually a lot of fun to drive...first time autocrossing a torque/powerful RWD car
E) Maybe the 2011 Mustang GT in FS isn't that bad :)
F) Driving 4 cars with LSDs in them this weekend made me realize that autocrossing the WRX with it's front AND rear open diffs on street tires has really taught me some good habits about throttle modulation and turn exit. It was amazing to be able to truly power out of a turn :).
G) Driving the bus is not that bad (from a steering standpoint)...maybe in the summer its terrible from a heat standpoint though :)

To be fair (honest) I didn't work a second shift... most of my day was spent on the Lemons course - other than a few runs with the Miata on the autox side. I did pick up cones and help move the port-o-let back and fourth so hopefully that pays up for my few autox runs. Great day guys and nice work on setting up the courses.

I learned (after the fact) that the stack of cones inside of the sweeper were not in fact a pivot cone  Probably should have walked the course. Oh well, my times got better each run and I know I need work on pivot cones so I'll call it an optional element placed there for training purposes.

Not a problem. Transporting a PJ and working gate was quite sufficient Colin!

Yeah, Bernie and are were pretty damn at awe when we saw you cross the line at 27.2 :). However, we didn't clear anything over there so you were probably rallycrossing over those weeds around your 'pivot' cone :).

I learned:

The Bullitt will fit sideways thru the finish gates.

and

Never take your eyes off the black Civic when Matt is behind the wheel.

Great event guys! Exactly what I needed.

That was a good course to practice the technical stuff and get one’s timing back. Turn arounds have always been tough on me. You made it easy with all of the cones. I just stayed tight to them and played to see how much time difference keeping tight made. It makes a big difference since one spends so much time in the turn around. Pivot cones is another area that I got a lot of practice on. Seeing how close I could get to them. Thanks for setting up such a good day. It must have been good, my kid actually thanked me for taking him. Oh, I did learn something, how to cord Star Spec's. Will be ordering my next set.
