I told myself that I was done for the year before I went to the last Triad event but I still have some life left on the Kumhos. Plus, I need some motivation to get the new dampers on the Honda.

Is anyone autocrossing next month with any of the clubs within about 3 hours or so of Raleigh?

I was thinking of going to Carowinds on Dec 5th with CCR SCCA, but I don't know if I feel like driving 2.5 hours on Sunday morning after the xmas party :).

I don't think you want to go to that event. I heard that lot might as well host an asphalt rallycross event with how bad the bumps were.

Really? Jim and Aaron were talking about how great Carowinds is a few weeks ago?!?

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. That's a bummer because it looks like a decent sized site.

Good point, day after X-mas party = no go.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. It's a good lot that's big and the grip is pretty decent. I wouldn't say it sandy or bumpy at all. I've only run there twice in a SM 240sx on street tires and I didn't think it was bad. In a stock based car, it should be even better. - AB

Didn't mean to doubt you Aaron.....Keith must be coming from the perspective of an STR S2000 or F125 kart :).

They were talking about the course on the CCR forums. They want to try to make more like 4-5 runs but on a 50-60 course instead of 3 runs on a 80 s course and in doing so, really try to avoid the bumpy areas.

Did you talk to Jim after the event? I didn't go but I spoke with Chris Cline and a few others that were there a couple weeks ago and it was supposedly miserable. The lot is very badly heaved according to those who went. Cline's BMW is broken and supposedly it was like driving over repeated ski jumps on course. Again I did not run there so this is just what I was told by the people that were there.

I ran there in my CS NC Miata 2 years ago on a 80 sec. course and there were several spots that were questionable. There a lot of ups and downs and the pavement is not in great shape

The lot is everything Aaron and I said it was but it has new issues that weren't present the last time I ran there. Apparently they had some heavy construction equipment parked there for quite some time last year and despite the repaving job, it is *real* bumpy. It isn't bumpy like a dirt field-- it's bumpy like a whoops section on a motorcross course.

I took one run in the first group and bailed. I must have bottomed the car 10 times in that run and it was enough for me. The last thing I needed was a broken shock or suspension piece when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the car for next year.

With that said, if I had a sally wagon, I'd probably make the trip. Those things have plenty of suspension travel, right?

Ugh. Yeah, it's been about 2 years since I have been there, so yes, this is new. Considering I have a fresh set of actually functional AST's (3 of the 4 were completely blown when I bought them apparently), there isn't a chance I will take my sally wagon out there :) - AB
