Likely the case. Someone is going to have to submit a ticket in the new system to get a true clarification. I don't have a dog in the fight, but if nobody else here is an SCCA member and willing to do it, I might be convinced.

Ha, get this:
(from May 2010 Fasttrak)
Quote:
TECH BULLETINS
1. Stock: The following new listings, effective immediately upon publication, are added to Appendix A:
Audi S4 (’10) BS
2. Stock: The Subaru STi Special Edition is covered by the existing listing in BS. (ref. 10-202)
3. Street Prepared: The DSP BMW listing which currently reads “328 & 300 (E46 chassis, non-M3)” is updated to read “323,
325, 328, 330 (E46) (except M3)”. Note: The 323 and 325 (E46) are presently not listed; this is a new listing for those
models
.

Seems the SEB has to do the same for BSP for the e90/92 :).

Yeah, that's the one thing I haven't done was check FT's since the 2010 rulebook. Did you check them all?

So with a 2,996 cc engine, the car is under 3.0 L and in to the unclassified DSP ?

Technically as things stand right now, you would be CSP because the first 'catch all' is in CSP

Sedans over 1.7L & under 3.0L not
otherwise classified.

But you really should be in BSP. That is the intention and soon as someone writes to the SEB and references the MAY 2010 FT in regards to DSP E46s, they will issue a FT to update the BSP line to include all E90/92 models.

Unless you're running street tires. Then STU/STX depending on how wide your wheels are.

Ahh autocross. 400 pages of rules for 30 seconds of driving :)

I think if you read the rules, it will end up being STU (believe it or not) for all E90 BMWs.

STX has:

Quote:
Class Requirements and Restrictions:
Coupes/Sedans - 4 seats minimum
(non-sports car based)
Engine Displacement:
Up to 5.1L normally aspirated
or
Up to 2.0L forced induction
(turbocharged/supercharged

and the only exclusions are:

Quote:
Excluded:
Audi S4 (V8)
BMW M3 (E36, E46, & E90
chassis) (1995-2010)
BMW M5 (all)
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart (Turbocharged)
(2009-10)
Sports cars & sports car-based
models

therefore so long as Michael's e90 has equal to or less than 265mm tires and 9" wheels or smaller, he can run STX.

I think what is throwing you off if the "example" classifications, which aren't necessarily required classifications.

So even though they specifically call out the E90 as an example classification in STU, that doesn't have any bearing? If so, then that's a bit confusing...

Under STU examples it shows:

BMW 3 Series (E90 chassis,
including M3) (2006-10)

That's how I'm reading it. If the car meets ALL STX requirements and isn't called out on the exclusions, I'd say it's a legal STX car. I agree that the 'examples' are confusing.

I mean an ST prepped 89 Civic SI is an 'example' STU car and 'example' STX car. That doesn't necessarily mean it HAS to run those classes.
