But yes zMax is awesome. I think there is supposed to be national tour event there in the next few years if I heard correctly.

Carowinds is actually quite good. It's big with a decent amount of elevation changes. The only minus there is the amount of light poles. - AB

If you guys are up for a bigger adventure, CCR is having an event on Saturday at zMax Dragway. It is definitely one of the better sites we have in the state and you should see a course more representative of what you may see at some bigger events. i.e. Minimal "runway'esq" features and no loop-de-loops on postage stamps.

Oops. That's funny. I was just talking with somebody on the phone about zMax Dragway (unrelated to auto-x) before I made my post and it must have gotten stuck in there! I hate when that happens!

But yea, Carowinds. It is definitely one of the better sites we have in the state and you should see a course more representative of what you may see at some bigger events. i.e. Minimal "runway'esq" features and no loop-de-loops on postage stamps. Add in the elevation changes as Aaron mentioned, throw in the recent repave job, and, yea, I think you might see something you don't normally see at our regular sites. Or not... :?

Oops...I haven't been to Carowinds.....only Knights stadium, which I didn't think was worth the drive. Carowinds requires driving through Charlotte though :). Zmax just has the one up on the other CCR sites in my book because it's easy and fast to get to.

Yea, Knights-- not so good.

Usually the trip down the in morning to Carowinds isn't so bad but the trip back can potentially get dicey with traffic. I do think it is interesting enough to check out at least once despite the drive. It reminds me a bit of a smaller version of one the gigantic lots at FedEx field. If anybody is thinking of making the trip to the DC Pro next year, this would be a good way to get a head start. It's too bad they can only get it during the offseason.

I had heard the Carowinds lot was rather bumpy so I had all but written that event off along with the fact that it is a solid 2 hr's 30 minutes for me to get to.

I have never run Carowinds lot just parked there to go to the park, so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

Yawn? It's been a couple years ago now, but Chris and I went to Carowinds to do a CCR event in the S2000, and I thought that lot was a riot. It was pretty big, with some nice elevation change, and the course was a riot. Have they changed lots?

(Edit: Jim already covered the above)

Hey Keith - maybe the apparent repave that Jim mentioned has fixed it, but yeah, that lot was pretty bumpy. It wouldn't be my first choice in a shifter kart.

Yeah, see above. I mixed up Knights and Carowinds. I haven't been to Carowinds (yet). Not sure if I can make Saturday though.
