If it's like the social event you can plan on a good 20+ people who say they are going to show being absent.

Can the A/X VPs or the Registrar send emails directly to people who have attended the last few events reminding them about this "last-chance"event and inviting them to sign up by the deadline?

Can I make a facebook event to drum up interest and hopefully get some more drivers?

I think this would be a good idea for this event. We need more people that want to autocross next weekend. Just point them to the autocross info on our website if they are novices.

If we make the minimum number, the event may run similar to the rallycross format. We may be split into two groups and everyone will be driving or working during each session. Hopefully we get enough drivers to at least make 3 run groups possible.

Please preregister in the next day if you can make it next weekend.
Thanks.

If there's a concern about having enough workers, just go ahead and treat it like a rallyx (work twice) and James and I will make sure the course is worker-friendly (think rallyx course on tarmac). I don't think we need bus workers, either. Just someone hanging around maybe to make sure the timer display is giving somewhat-correct times. No classes, no competition, just fun runs all day.

Hard to believe there aren't at least 50 people signed up already. If you're thinking about going, but are scared it's going to just be 10 pivot cones, I assure you there will be something for everyone. And since it's fun runs, you're free to just drive through the parts you don't like. For example, if you don't like 8-cone slaloms, just pretend it's a wall next to a drag strip. (yes, the course will be designed with these kinds of things in mind)

Due to the low number of drivers signed up and the issue with the bus, we have decided to cancel the non-points autocross this weekend.

Sorry for the cancellation but we really don't want to get the bus stuck in Danville or somewhere on the side of the road.

Anyone preregistered will receive an email but please pass the word to make sure that everyone is aware of the change.

Thanks.

That's a shame. How are refunds going to be handled for those of us who prepaid? I'm fine with just getting a voucher for an event next year if Paypal is going to skim fees from the club.

Curious what's the issue with the bus???? It ran alright when I took it to Chris's.

Registrar will refund - makes the books MUCH simpler and Paypal doesn't skim if it's a straight refund. If you don't see it processed this week send the Registrar a note, please.

When Charlie G cranked up the bus at the rallyx this weekend to take it back to Chris', it filled up the inside of the bus w/ smoke from some overheated wires under the dash. Needs to be fixed and then some serious consideration given to a replacement bus.

Right now we don't want the bus stranded on the side of the road or cause further damage.

I think I am. I've never been to that site but it looks like it's right next to Dixie. They've only got something in the 30's but they get a lot of walk-ups.

If you guys are up for a bigger adventure, CCR is having an event on Saturday at zMax Dragway. It is definitely one of the better sites we have in the state and you should see a course more representative of what you may see at some bigger events. i.e. Minimal "runway'esq" features and no loop-de-loops on postage stamps.

It's at Carowinds (yawn).

But yes zMax is awesome. I think there is supposed to be national tour event there in the next few years if I heard correctly.
