I'd rather do 4 competition runs and let those who are just there for the competition go home early, then get more fun runs for the rest of us. Hmmm... And maybe we can take a few cones out of the course* for the fun runs...

*James, let's keep that in mind for the optional elements, etc. on setup day. We could even mark the cones we'll remove for fun runs on the course map. Hey, this is starting to sound like it's going to be pretty fun. :D

Well, if there's only 50 people signed up the day before the event, I guess we'll have to design a course that only needs about 3 worker stations. Or that only includes about 60 cones from start to finish, like the one I designed at Sanford several years ago.

We'll be there. I'm holding off to make sure it isn't going to be "Greenville hot."

friendly reminder....

Gonna be a hot one! mid 90s, chance of thunderstorms last time I checked. Remember:

DRINK fluids. Lots. And lots. Before and during event. (May be too much info, but when you do #1, it should be clear pale yellow) Caffeinated beverages do more to diurese than hydrate, so lay off the Diet Cokes.

This week's Kroger ads have Gatorade 32oz for $0.50 each. Buy six.

Shade is your friend. Bring an umbrella that isn't red, and use it. Wear a hat. Loose fitting cotton clothes, etc.

Consider tossing a towel in your cooler among the icewater and use it to cool off during the day.

If you feel nauseous, have headaches/dizziness then GET OUT of the sun and cool down, pronto. If you see someone else acting funky (or funkier than usual) be proactive and get them to some shade as well.

Thanks!

Steve, thanks for the reminder. Lemme tell you something - even when the sun's down, it's hot lately. I put new rear brake pads on the S2000 earlier tonight. It's not 97 degrees out there right now, of course, but man, the humidity is a killer.

Anyway, I'd like to make a further suggestion to people. If you haven't done so already, get some clothing that's made out of that quick-drying, synthetic material. I believe Under Armor was among the first makers to market this stuff, but now, it's all over the place. A bunch of mine is from Reebok, some from Columbia, and some are Target's house brand. Try some of this stuff on a hot day, and I bet you'll never go back to wearing a t-shirt again.
