It has been a while since I have been to an event at Greenville, but each time the weather promises to be brutal and there is an event there, I am just waiting for the post on Monday that talks about how someone ended up having medical problems due to the heat (glad Gwen is OK).

I just had an idea and wondered if it had any merit at all. In addition to an awning and a generator :D , does anything think that renting/buying one of those large cooling mist fans and having it located near the bus for summer events when the heat and/or heat index is projected to be above a specific level might be of value?

It might be an absolutely stupid idea from a logistics, cost, etc. issue, but I wanted to throw it out as an idea for others to shoot down.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

We actually have a Port A Cool exactly like the ones that USL had running in the garage yesterday. I saw that the hoses were connected, but didn't actually look to see if there was triculation behind them or if they were just being run *dry*. The problem on site would be water supply. They require continuous refill to the float level during use due to evaporation. They are also very heavy so getting them to site would be interesting. Might be worth exploring never the less.

So... this may not actually be helpful, because electricity is not my area of expertise; but we have a "portable" gasoline generator in our garage that ostensibly works and has 120-volt outputs. Is that what the club would be looking for? I say "portable" because it weighs roughly a million pounds , but it does have wheels, and I'm sure something could be designed to get it into and out of my pickup for events.

Jennifer,
I'll refer you to #13 of the topic below. It's an ongoing "thing" that you just get to know about as time marches on. Come to the next meeting. It will come up again, I promise. Or, in other words, no generator is likely to be in the club's future. Vague reference to topics of death.

makes sense dosen't it Jennifer. i hear tell that the trailer could actually support one of these newfangled inventions on a full time basis.

maybe we should discuss this further.

Speaking of such things, did anyone check to make sure Chris S. is still alive? Damn, that bus is hot!

Yes, I saw him on line somewhere yesterday, or maybe a PM. Anyway, he got the bus back and to be repaired and 2 new tires.

I was curious at the event. They did have water running on them, the elements on the back were wet.
