let's not forget that none of our track events ever go off without an ambulance and crew on site. granted the fee is included in the track rental.

when i was in high school an ambulance was at all the football games, whether that is relavent or not i can't say. but they were local.

would people pay $50 to autocross if they knew an ambulance and EMTs were present? i figure it has got to be at least $1000 for an eight hour shift.

If it's $1000, then it'd be roughly $8/driver premium given approx 120 drivers pre event, and really only would be needed for June, July and August...

IMO, a reasonable action plan is really all that's necessary. Listing of local emergency phone numbers (besides 911), a reasonable set of triage equipment should be fine. We have fire extinguishers on site, but don't feel the need for fire trucks...perhaps the same level of preparedness is all that's necessary here. After all, everything we did at Greenville was correct from a first responder perspective. What we need to ensure is that people are consistently reminded to remain hydrated, offer as much shade as we can, and then call the EMTs when something goes awry...

Every site will be hot in the summer. I'd rather be in Greenville with a building, fans and bathrooms. The cafe with AC would have been nice. Emergency help is nearby along with a good hospital.
We all just need to be more careful with hydrating and taking cool breaks. It was exceptionally hot last Sunday even for Greenville. Today has been 10 degrees cooler.
