You both can run the same number if you are in different classes. Note that NOV and Tire are each a class, so you could run 40 STX and she could run 40 NOV (if no one else had registered for 40 NOV first), just change the class designations. For later on, STX and STXL are also different classes even if the ladies class gets bumped to open you both could run the same number, just change the class designations. If you both run STX open, then you'll need two different numbers like Donna and I do. We use numbers that are reverse of each other (24,42) so we just have to move one digit. You cannot have two numbers or two class designations on the car at the same time. If you are using placards, you'll need to do a set for each of you. I'd suggest making separate digits and class designations if you plan on running any other club's events you may not be able to run your favorite number with another club. Having several pairs to a full set of numerals allows you to have flexibility. Whatever you choose to do, make sure the class #s are at least 8" high (10" is better), 2" stroke, a simple front that is legible from a fair distance, and the color contrasts strongly with it's background i.e. use a light color on a dark background or vice versa. The class designations should be just the letters, not spelled out, and be 1/2 - 3/4 the number height. You can use a contrasting border color to make them stand out even more. You are trying to make it EASY for the course workers to identify your car as you go past so you can be scored correctly. Never use mettallic gold or silver, those do not contrast with ANY background color. Another common mistake is to use red and black. Red is a dark color. Print out whatever you are considering full size on paper, cut it out and tape it on your car, walk about 300' ft (football field) away and then turn around quickly and see if you can read it all in an instant. If it's difficult to tell what number or letter it is, go back to the drawing board before commiting it to vinyl.
