Andrew,

You may want to consider adjusting your settings a little--it looked like the outside of the car was washed out vs the cockpit, probably the exposure is set to "Center". If yours is like mine, go to Settings and choose <Spt> instead of <Cnt>, basically adjusting brightness for the absolute center of the frame instead of the whole scene.

Just a thought.

Yeah, I know that it's a bit of a problem. The aperture of the camera isn't really that great or adjustable, but I haven't dived into the different modes available for fixing the exposure level. I think when mounted so far back in the cabin, the camera's light metering cranks up the exposure to make the interior be well-lit, but it blows out the exterior because of some "giant fireball in the sky" or something.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Was this the circuitcross? How many runs did you get? What was the cost? Was it worth it? It's difficult to tell, but how was timing done? Was it with timing equipment or transponders? Weather looks pretty iffy. When did it start raining?

Yes
12 (5 dry, 7 wet)
$90 ($80 if you are a nasa member) (Basically 5-6 autocrosses worth of driving for the cost of 3.5 of them and no course working so you can watch full course during your off heats :) )
Yes
Timing lights
Raining intermittently all day

If you watch my 3 videos from the event (first 3 runs...all dry) you'll notice I was definitely easing my way into it...braking early, no tire squealing in the turns, coasting a few questionable points. Anyway this was with the expectation of getting ~10 dry runs, but that didn't happen so the wet runs were a whole other ball game so I was a bit disappointed with that but I'm pretty sure I could have squeezed 2-2.5 seconds more out with a few more dry runs...even on my crappy SP Sports 01.

There is one on 7/25. I'm going to try to do that AND the Danville THSCC autox on the same day :).

Thanks for the info. I had thought about doing it but don't want to miss any of our club's events.

Good luck with that. Between running and working, especially if we do split run groups, your day in Danville will be pretty full. Don't really see you being able to get much more "fun" in at VIR. :?
