Yes, thanks to everyone who put the event on. I didn't do much running but the car felt great and improved with the changes I had made to it. The two courses were short and fun and had a great time as usual.

While I thank you guys, my tires unfortunately do not . Like a fool, I ran all day with VDC on. On the upside, the level of grip due to the concrete, plus the extra camber I squeezed out doing an alignment really seemed to keep VDC out of the equation enough that I did not notice....wasn't pushing like a pig . Maybe I was just driving right?

Oh, and I had a good time too. I even tried the skidpad, even though early on I commented that it was the most useless, dumb thing imaginable. I still think it was kind of useless, since I've NEVER seen that level of grip on any sweeper or turnaround on an actual autocross course, but it was fun -- particularly when I ran it in first and tried to hang the tail out a little. That turned out to be the end of one rear tire. What you can't see in the photo are a series of diagonal stripes where the rubber was ripped away.

+1 and I absolutely ruined a set of street tires on this damn skip pad, but man was that drift fun. 1st gear and some throttle modulation and 2 rotations around the circle felt wonderful, but oh, what a terrible price I paid...

I do want to thank everyone that came out yesterday and played on the tarmac. Couldn't have asked for any better weather, spot on. I think we had about 45 drivers show along w/ a good mix of novice drivers. W/ 3 courses, I think we covered all the bases and hopefully everyone got in all the runs they wanted.

See you in a few weeks for our first points events back in L-burg!

Great T&T. I got all the seat time I could use. The courses worked well for me and what I wanted to work on. Thanks to all who put it together. It all worked very well. Also, thanks to those who helped me with advice and ideas for tire set up and all. Great day!!!

too bad it can't be 62 degrees and sunny for every event...

Big thanks to all who gave up seat time to manage the event yesterday! Got all the practice I could, and now have no tread left on my year old OEM tires--w00t! Finally I can justify dropping some $ on something a little better.

In re: directions...IDK what the average driving time is to Laurinburg, but from midtown Raleigh my GPS told me to go I-95 --US301--SR71 to get there (no street sign for Airbase Rd, so that was fun.) and took me 1h 50 min to get home.

Hey try getting to Kevin's and missing the "street" he lives on. Trying to find a place to turn 2 long vehicles around is tough

I got so lost both coming to L-burg and leaving...I'm glad I have a decent sense of direction because I only had an image in my head of the directions I got off google maps and didn't think to remember other road names etc.

In the AM, I missed Hill Creek off of 15501 and got almost to 74 before realizing I must have gone to far. So I head back north on 15501 and go another 15 miles and decide just to make a right on one of the roads that say Wagram. So I do so and follow signs and eventually hit a stop for main street. I go left and I see this Shell station with a dirty, stickered up Integra R....bingo I made it! .

Leaving, I forgot to turn right at Riverton so I stayed on Airbase road so I whittle my way back to the Shell station in similar route to what I did in the morning. Got on Hill Creek finally. Drove on that for a while and got to a funky intersection with N. Turnpike and I didn't know if I got straight or not, so I turned left on N Turnpike and eventually got to 15501 N.....only about 8 miles SOUTH of where I was. Anyway, I eventually pass Hill Creeks intersection with 15/501 and I did not see a Pine Lake RV sign. But I did see a horse crossing sign and noted that if you go by the golf pro shop, you passed.

Hopefully it'll be easier next time .

I'll second Steve in saying that Mapquest and Google maps both said coming from Durham to L-burg was going to be 2.5-2.75 hours but had I not got lost, it would have been a hair over 2 hours and I don't drive particularly fast (5 over at most).

How long have you been going to Laurnburg? Did they move the roads or something?

Yeah I had a good time too although I had to cut out at lunch. I'd say I got 15-20 runs between the two courses and burned up a little bit of the all-season tread on the Michelins. Much thanks to Rodney and Charlie!

Although it wasn't an official event, I still love being out there working the course watching cones get crushed and seeing how the different cars handle the different elements.

Test & Tunes are great for trying out a new car even if it's not on the tires you plan on racing and yesterday was definitely beneficial. One thing I really like about this and previous T-n-T's is the fact that you can try different approaches to elements to see how a car reacts differently each time without worrying about your time or cone penalties. A good example for me was turning earlier and tossing the car through the slaloms instead of reacting so to speak with late herky-jerky inputs of the wheel. T-n-T's are great for trying different braking points too.

Now, to find out why my 1-2 shift was grinding occasionally.
I really hope I was just being lazy depressing the clutch.

Yeah, that was a lot of fun, Bernie's C5 is a hoot and gonna rock this year. I was probably most surprised by the performance of the wagon though, my 27.4 first run was 2 seconds faster than I had predicted. That hemi torque ruled and Mercedes E class chassis/suspension does an admirable job of handling all that mass. Considering it is still on OEM "grand touring" tires and only 225 section width to handle 4000lbs I was pretty impressed. Once I get some better tires and some SRT suspension goodies on there, more fun runs will be in order.

What were some of the faster times yesterday on the timed course? I know Greg in the Black STI put down a 24.2xx going right. My best was 25.4xx going right and low 26.xxx going left. Then I drove Greg's STI and put down a 26.xxx going right ....I wasn't pushing it too hard though.

I couldn't see the timer during run group 3, what was Bernie pulling....damn that thing sounds good ?

I think I got a 26.2 going left, never went right for some reason

I liked right - it just felt like I could stay on the gas more, and the lane-change was way more fun with more entry speed. I had a 26.164 going right, some high 26's going left.

If it works on a full AX course, how many folks would like to see that collection of elements included in a points event?
