Greetings, fellow autocrossers:

I'll keep it short and simple. Without volunteers to drive the club bus to and from our events, we don't get to autocross. Without the bus, we're sunk. So please, if you have the ability to drive the bus for an autocross weekend, you'd be helping out a large number of your friends and fellow club members.

It's actually a pretty sweet deal. In exchange for driving the bus out and back, you get some pretty sweet benefits:

- Your entry fee for the event is waived
- You won't have to have a normal work assignment during the event
- Your hotel room, if you need one, is paid for by the club
- You will be a hero to your fellow autocrossers

See? Not a half bad set of benefits.

If you have towing experience, and have something to drive once you're at the event, please consider being a bus driver. Thanks!

EDIT: Below is the running list of bus drivers, who are awesome. I understand that some of you have said "I can *probably* do it on <whenever>," this is mostly so I can keep track of it. Organization will set me free, or something like that. :)

- 3/7: Test and Tune, Laurinburg: (Kendt Eklund)
- 3/27-28: Novice School / Points #1, Laurinburg (Rob Lupella)
- 4/10-11: Chick School / Points #2, Danville: (Stephen Westerfield)
- 5/15-16: Jimmy V, Sanford (Brice Johnson)
- 6/27: Points #4, Greenville: (OPEN)
- 7/25: Points #5, Danville: (Bernie / Gwen Baake)
- 8/21-22: Test Day / Points #6, Laurinburg: (OPEN)
- 9/26: Points #7, Sanford: (OPEN)
- 10/23-24: Points #8 / NCAC, Danville: (Bernie / Gwen Baake)
- 11/14: Non-points "fun day," site TBD: (OPEN)

If it was a nicer bus, we'd get more volunteers.

If my car isn't drivable for the novice school, I will drive it for that event.

I liked Donnie's suggestion in a different thread. Next time we don't get a volunteer, maybe we should not bring the bus. Having people show up to an autocross, only to find out that there's no autocross, might incent people to volunteer.

Karl - I will drive the bus to one event this year if I can co-drive your car :) I'm serious!

I'll take care of it for the April event/Chick School weekend.

Gang, the Test and Tune is quickly approaching, and at the moment, we're without a bus driver. Anyone willing to step up and help us out?

Could the bus be taken down the day before and returned the day after the event? If so, I could probably arrange something since I live relatively close to the site.

I imagine this would be fine. I'll call Laurinburg tomorrow to verify that though.

Just for clarification: you're talking about drive it down on Friday, and go get it on Monday? Just making sure. We'd ordinarily take it down Saturday afternoon sometime, and drive it home Sunday evening.

Thanks Kendt, let me know if I have that right and I'll call Laurinburg tomorrow.

If it doesn't have to be there till Saturday afternoon, then Sat AM would probably work, but check on Friday just in case. Then I'd get it back Monday. Just want to make sure there is plenty of time to make the car/bus shuffle work. Where is the bus now?

It's at Chris Suich's house at the moment.

For the Sanford events, its pretty easy for me to drive the bus down and back if I could do something similar to Kendt's setup. I work in Sanford, and usually carpool, so I've got a built in ride home Friday (could drop it off) and could pick it up Monday. Not sure if this helps, but thought I'd throw it out there. Especially given that the bus is a Chris's, this is pretty easy for me.

Bernie and I can do the Danville events-same deal as above-take it the day before and bring it back on Monday. I see Stephen already has Chick School weekend covered, so July and October.

I might be able to do the March event since I don't think my car will be ready by then and since we are going down Friday to set up it will be there for the event. I can probably drive it back to somewhere too

OK - here's my plan so far - I have to be at an education technology conference in Raleigh Fri - so I plan to pick up the bus and take it to Vass Fri evening, then drive it down Sat and get a ride back home.
I'm asking friends in the area, but I may have to bum a ride from someone coming back up Rt. 1 on Sat (I am not far from the highway at all).
I think I won't have a problem getting the bus out of L'burg on Sunday, but the extra option of moving it Monday would help.
