wasn’t the geneses r-spec taken out of stock class due to the manufacturer advertising a small part of that car as "not for street use"? maybe the scca changed their minds on it, but i thought I had read that they ruled that way. if no one finds what I am talking about, I will dig for it when I get some free time tomorrow.

The car is stock class legal for GS, you just can't use the crash bolts that come with it because of the "Not for Street Use" disclaimer. - AB

Wonder if anyone has contacted Hyundai and requested they change the wording of that documentation.

I'm sure Abe and others have. Hyundai is steering clear of the liability, which I can understand. - AB

Man, the Genesis has staggered wheels AND 19s! That's gong to be an expensive puppy to run r comps on (I guess the perspective is that it is a $24k Hyundai....vette owners are used to this :) ). The brakes are so big you can't go to 17s or 18s (even some 19s might have clearance issues from the 45 sec of reading I did on the car). Seems a bit excessive for a 3200 lb car for autox, but I guess if you think you'll take it to the track, the OEM brakes will be ready to go (add pads/fluid).

Any guess on relative depreciation on a Genisis versus other G Stock cars?

I have no idea, but my guess is that it is no worse than the other cars in the class that should be near the top:

Neon ACR SRT-4
Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V

Both of which have resale numbers that are below average. - AB

Good question. I don't know for certain, but my guess is the same as Aaron's. At worst, I suspect depreciation would be about average. With Hyundai doing as well as it is right now, I suspect the days of crummy Hyundai resale value are either going away, or already gone.

I'd consider one if it weren't for the 19" wheels. Keeping an S2000 (17") in Hoosiers is bad enough; the Genesis would put me in the poor house. And I'd chew through them faster than I am now, since the Genesis has a strut front suspension, making an already dire budget situation even worse. Ugh. If I had a Genesis, I'd take it straight to STX. I bet that turbo motor would be a lot of fun with some mods thrown its way.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I would find a base model though to get away from the massive Brembos as they are nice but not needed for autocross and then you can easily fit 17 or 18 inch wheels on the car. I am sure you will be able to find a LSD for the car in not much time affordably. I just think it will be too heavy to be Nationally competitive in STX but it would sure be a fun local and regional car.

I just happened across the E-force kit on Strano's web site. 466 hp w/ 439ft/lb of torque. All I can say is wow.

me want......

Soooo, what kind of discount do you think you could get?

Absolutely no idea. I have seen as much as ~35% off aeroquip and Eaton differentials. I think this is cost in most cases. Being that this is Edelbrock that is not owned by Eaton I really don't know though. I can call if you are interested... I am myself, but don't think my wallet would enjoy the call. :D

You should try modifying it. Start by pulling those stock drag racing springs off of the car.

you're not helping :?.

Hey Rodney...
Image

This was taken on the way home from the dragstrip, where I ran a 13.7@103mph.. Now, I need to go back sometime when I can get more practice. That run was with a horrible bog. I think I could get a 13.3-13.5 out of the car without that mistake at the start.
