it most definitely wasn't a horsepower course, at least I didn't think so. There was no braking whatsoever for me until the turnaround, and the only other two real braking zones were into the diagonal slalom and the chicago box.

I guess you can see the difference between a SS car and basically an HS car. There were LOTS of places where I was wide open (like most of the first half of the course). . .

I can understand Corvette guys saying that it’s not a horse power course. You hold the horsepower bar at a different level. Aaron can remember the one time his car was floored, where as I can remember the four or so times my car wasn’t. I was floored from the first turn until the turn around. I hit the rev limiter by the second cone in the slalom. I braked twice, the turn around and the Chicago box and lifted a couple of other times. I could definitely have used more HP. If you have 400 + horse power in a fairly light car, of course you’re not using all of it. I believe that the Mustangs had an advantage probably in gearing as well as horsepower. When the speeds are that high, how fast you get there and your max speed before the rev limiter hits really helps you make up time. My Miata has 14.8 lbs/hp, a Corvette is about 8.3 lbs/hp, an S2K is 12.3 lbs/hp. Usually momentum cars excel in getting through very tight spaces without giving up speed. There were only two tight spot and those were not too tight Accelerating out of them quickly was worth some good time. I didn’t see any areas were big cars with massive tires were too badly hindered. The S2K fits nicely in between high hp and a momentum car, the best of both worlds. Karl, you kicked butt. Aaron and Les, you both are excellent at driving hp and momentum. That’s why you guys are always on top. Brice, it would have been interesting to see if you would have done better in a higher hp car.
