I didn't make it to an event there last year, but I assume that the access dirt road is still pretty much the same as in years past? i.e. dirt with some deep depressions that gather water/mud if rainy, etc.

I'm curious as I'm pondering how easy it will be to get a 996 GT3 that sits pretty low in and out of there without issue. Any thoughts? My thoughts from years past is that it would nice if the road was graded and have fresh gravel...in other words I hate going in and out of that place. :)

I'll buy a trailer and tow the car for you, if you let me co-drive.

:)

I'm asking for a friend who's done a ton of track time over the years but no autocross, so if anyone is getting a co-drive it's me!

I'm going down there in February to meet with site management and go over the area we will now be using. I don't believe that there are any other entrances, but I'll certainly ask.

As to the one you're used to, yeah, it's about the same. I don't own a GT3, but have no trouble getting the S2000 in and out of there, so long as I'm careful and drive around the deeper depressions. My car has a long-ish front overhang, and a mere five inches of ground clearance in factory stock trim. I haven't highcentered it yet.

i think i would be more worried about the craters in the runways. potholes are easy to avoid at 5 mph.

Thanks Karl -- maybe convince them that spending an hour grading that entrance road would be helpful to all who rent the site. I know their rental fee is dirt cheap (ha, ironic), so they surely won't pay anyone much to do anything there. I might pass on that site again anyway as the actual condition of the place is horrific in many spots...guess for 60 year old concrete it's not bad, but it can be very hard on tires and suspension parts.

So exactly where are they letting us run? If we are talking about the area down the hill from the taxiway, even if all the crete is good it is not very big. Are they talking about the area where all the planes were stored - across the field from where we used to run? Or are they talking about the active runways. (that might be interesting as we could not have cone-intensive courses) I can hear it now "ReRun for CSP 13 due to airplane on course. "

None of those places.

If you were at last year's March test and tune, and got over to the test and tune course, we'll be in that neighborhood. Last year, when Wes and I laid out the TnT course, we had to steer folks around some broken up pavement, but no more so than we did on the other side of the site. In fact, I'd say that most of the pavement in the new area is *better* than the old area.

I'm going down there in about a month to look over our new area with the site manager. Like I said, if I've got the time, I'll try and take some pictures. I think this change is going to be a good thing for our events at L'burg.

It is, except for really 1 area, but I hope we have a fix for that too.

Totally agree, we got into the mindset of "Ohhh noes, if we don't run the P the earth will stop rotating". Well the P isnt an option anymore.

Karl,

I need a visual input to figure out where we're running there now -- where exactly is it on this overheard view in reference to where we used to run ~upper 1/3rd on the right?

Thanks. I put that into maps below -- I've always thought that area was junk, but maybe if it's cleaned off and all, it's not any worse than the old area.
