Greetings fellow cone dodgers:

Since we've got the 2010 schedule set, now is as good a time as any to start taking volunteers for chairing events. Come one, come all!

First, a couple things worth pointing out. We have a strong preference - but not a requirement - that rookie event chairs be paired up with an experienced person. It's not that any of this stuff is rocket surgery, it's just good to have an experienced person to run questions and ideas by. Especially if the VPs are off doing something else. Or hiding. ;)

I've had at least one person express interest in chairing for the first time, which is great. That person sometimes has work conflicts, and may have to choose one event over another because of it. It's for reasons like this that we **may** ask folks to be flexible on which event they're chairing. Usually, the planets align pretty well, and everyone gets the one that they want.

So...what do event chairs actually do, anyway? I'll get back to this a little later in more detail. Among the things that event chairs do are course design, event name, dash plaque design, and working with the event general manager (one of the VPs) on organizational stuff.

For volunteering, my recommendation is that people contact the Autocross VPs by email. You can reach all of us at once by emailing autocross at thscc dot com. It's much easier to keep everyone in the loop over email than it is by private message on the forum.

So...here's the schedule. I'll fill in our takers as we get them. And thanks!

- 3/7: Test and Tune, Laurinburg
- 3/27-28: Novice School (Saturday), Points #1 (Sunday), Laurinburg (Jason Watts + a possible ghost from our past)
- 4/10-11: Chick School (Saturday), Points #2 (Sunday), Danville (Team Westerfield)
- 5/15-16: Jimmy V Charity Autocross / Points #3, Sanford (Wes Eargle)
- 6/27: Points #4, Greenville (Steve Carter and Maria Winslow)
- 7/25: Points #5, Danville Kevin Allen, James Short
- 8/21-22: Test and Tune / Nationals Warmup (Saturday), Points #6 (Sunday), Laurinburg (Brice and Mary Johnson)
- 10/2-3: NCAC and Points #7, Sanford
- 10/30: Points #8 / Danville. Need Chairs!
- 11/14: Non-points "fun day," site TBD

Steve Carter is asking for an experienced autoxer to help w/ the June event in G-ville. I thought I'd start here and ask if any one is interested in helping out Steve.

Please let us know, hate to have to start volunteering folks

I'll volunteer for one. You can either trust Steve and I to put something competent together, or put someone more experienced with him and pair me with a minder.

Probably just one. I have some other, more interesting things in mind. One of them involves the use of the number 270.

hello all! Well having just come out of the NCAC, it's hard to get ready for our last event, but it's just around the corner. Right now we do not have event chairs.

We need someone to be the event chair ASAP. We also need art work and an event name cranked up ASAP. If you want to have some fun w/ the last event, then please step up. Since this is right up against spookyween, I think we can have some fun w/ this event. I even vote for an exhaust "soundoff". V8's, 6ers and 4bangers. An appropriate prize to be given, maybe a NCAC shirt!

I'll be the GM, so don't let that prevent you from signing up 8)

OK, I need 2 folks ASAP please! A rookie and an experienced person would be great!

Thanks!!!!!
