Greetings fellow cone dodgers:
Since we've got the 2010 schedule set, now is as good a time as any to start taking volunteers for chairing events. Come one, come all!
First, a couple things worth pointing out. We have a strong preference - but not a requirement - that rookie event chairs be paired up with an experienced person. It's not that any of this stuff is rocket surgery, it's just good to have an experienced person to run questions and ideas by. Especially if the VPs are off doing something else. Or hiding.
I've had at least one person express interest in chairing for the first time, which is great. That person sometimes has work conflicts, and may have to choose one event over another because of it. It's for reasons like this that we **may** ask folks to be flexible on which event they're chairing. Usually, the planets align pretty well, and everyone gets the one that they want.
So...what do event chairs actually
do, anyway? I'll get back to this a little later in more detail. Among the things that event chairs do are course design, event name, dash plaque design, and working with the event general manager (one of the VPs) on organizational stuff.
For volunteering, my recommendation is that people contact the Autocross VPs by email. You can reach all of us at once by emailing
autocross at thscc dot com. It's much easier to keep everyone in the loop over email than it is by private message on the forum.
So...here's the schedule. I'll fill in our takers as we get them. And thanks!
