EDIT:: No no. I was pointed to the gentleman above me to let him know that he was the fastest.

I was by no means the fastest PAX.

He beat me PAX'd :)

Um, I think the important Numbers would be "PAX w/o Lowest" column.

That is where I put Kevin in for a reference to 'real' competition.

Your numbers for you runs MAY be slightly off, but they should be close. Regardless, you still close to fastest PAX of the day... I think. :)

Someone coulda been in Stock class ripping a 38.57 which would have PAX'd them higher than you. I hardly saw anyone stock looking getting around 38's, so I think it is safe to say you were fastest PAX.

It's all unoffical though :). I just thought it would be nice to throw out there.

Good job, and hope to see you on the 21st, and MAYBE even at the THSCC meeting tomorrow night at Golden Corral!!

Just some more data for the chart. I ran the following in my H Stock 8v GTI

38.2 (clean)
36.8 clipped one, maybe 2
36.4 not clean, i know i hit at least one or two

I'd like to add my thanks as well. I learned quite a bit of things related to autocross but also learned that I don't know how to launch or shift into second properly. So, besides learning new things I found out that I need to relearn old things.

The set up was perfect for a novice. The two small sections allowed me to concentrate on, well, small sections, and gain confidence without being overwhelmed. The last three runs on the larger course were a pure joy, the last two being me by myself to see what I could remember. My hat's off to Simon for his great instructions and the fun we had. Thanks to all of you involved with putting that together. I'm HOOKED! I'll be signing up for most of the autocrosses this year.

Heh.. well, there we go.

Well, if you ran those times without cones, you woulda been faster PAX'd (28.402), but with cones [giving you one for each run -- 2 second penalty], you were *slightly* slower (29.954) and that BARELY made you slower than Chris, but .053 faster than me :).

Oh just FYI, if I was running in STX (which I hope to be doing in the near future), I woulda PAX'd (28.396) , BARELY faster than the H-stock car.

I think it is a nice way to demonstrate that you might be slower, but through PAX/RTP, you are actually pretty fast :).

I love seeing the older cars out there. :)

Well, here's the video I did as a memento for my uncle. It was shot using a Fujifilm FinePix F401 digital camera (not a video camera) and cobbled together from multiple runs into one sequence.

It's just under 14MB so you dial-up fiends out there should be patient.

Hey, that was really excellent, Simon! Very impressive job, especially considering the modest camera setup. And I was very impressed with your uncle's smooth hand motions everywhere, including through that tight slalom.

Somebody's going to make Mike Whitney a happy man. I just think that you may have missed a person or two when you made that spreadsheet, that's all ;)

The more people that send me times, the more I will include. I got all those times from word of mouth.

If you remember your times and post them, I will include it -- just NOV FYI to see how you did I guess.

I just did it for fun with my friends that went with me, and for the STi I was trying to beat, and the HS car for a comparison that he WAS fast. Kevin is in there because he instructed me :).

See you guys tonight :)

I ran a 36.8 with Joel Haywood in the car and 36.7 with Tonya Mauldin. I wonder where that tenth came from? (STS pax) Then I had Aaron Buckley drive my car and his second run was a upper 34  !

Guess that I left some time on the course...

The Contour really surprised me. Looks like it was set up quite well. Looked like the car was quite tail-happy, for a front driver.

And I have no idea what my times were. Couldn't ever make out the timer. I -think- I got a 36.something as my best time, but even so, it was with nailing at least one cone in the slalom (I seem to be having trouble deciding if I want to turn too late, or too early. Grr.)
