Steve, thanks for the recommendation! I called Chip and within 2 hours he had a car for me--that same day!

Big Kudos to Chip at Atlantic Auto Exchange--for finding the car that I wanted, in the price range and mileage range, AND in the color that I preferred.

Yesterday I drove out to look and test drive the car, had it inspected at a shop I take my other car to, and it checked out just fine.

So today, there is a very different animal sitting in front of my house, waiting to be taken out to an autocross. Even has Hankook performance tires on it :)

How will you get graham to ride/co-drive in it? He is yellowphobic and thinks that if he rides in a yellow car it will have dire consequences for his manhood. I, however, have no such insecurities and will be glad to be seen in a car of such an exquisite color.

Thank you everybody! I do love this car. I knew I'd be taking it home when I saw it :)

I will run either TIR or AS next year--still thinking. Depends on co-driver situation. It would be easier to afford extra wheels and r-comps if I had one.

Sunday, I'll be going to the Carowinds event, to give the new car a try and burn up some of these Hankooks that came on the car :)

The good thing is that you have an AP1 with the 16's instead of 17's.

There's a Berlina '03 with 23k at Leith with an asking price of $16k. Those cars are an awesome value.

The S2K happens to look good in that shade of yellow. Nice buy Alex!

It's a great color - has a lot of metallic in it, so it really pops in the right light.

I hope you get R-compound tires and wheels for it. That would make next year's lineup look like:

- Karl Shultz
- Chris Peterson
- Eric Peterson // sometimes?
- Matt McGrain
- Alex Maier
- Keith Vail
- Jadrice
- Brooks Skull

Plus some others who show up occasionally, and/or people who have been out of circulation for a bit. Big events would have the Schoonmakers and Joe Magyar too. Looks like a pretty good lineup to me!

First thing to do Alex is get a large front swaybar for that car. It'll tame the back end of the car a lot, and rid you of wheelspin coming off corners. I'd say it's pretty much a requirement. The most affordable one is the Saner. Here's a link:

The Small Fortune Racing bar is a good bit more advanced, but is also a lot more money:

Finally, this winter, I'm going to have Conover Motorsports build me a custom, speedway-style front bar, with spherical bearings and whatnot. Should be a pretty nice piece of kit once we're all done. Vail is most likely having one built too, as is my friend Matt Palombi down in SC.

You'll also want to get it aligned for autocross use - you should have my specs, but if you don't, ping me and I'll send them again.

For carrying tires, you're going to need a hitch and a trailer. Hitch is here:

The Chase hitch is pretty expensive, but it's really nicely engineered. I wouldn't bother with anything else.

As far as I can tell, it pops in any light ;) The past two days I have been enjoying the experience of being on the highway and no Escalades trying to merge on top of my car. Plus, I can zip out of their way much faster now...

That's enough to intimidate me :) LOL
I can't keep a trailer here in my condo's parking lot, so I am contemplating a tire tail. After all, I don't carry much more than a jack, ramps, and a compressor to an autoX, and that will fit in the trunk.

*sigh*
I really hoped to get away with not modifying anything... There goes that hope. But I remember you said it was not hard to install, plus I won't be swapping out the sway bar mount brackets, so maybe I'll do this over the winter.
