OK,
I should know this one but I am drawing a blank today.

A coworker is looking for both a MB and BMW mechanic.

I know shade tree, but anyone closer to the Apex/Cary area?

I'm casually looking for a really ace Merc mechanic myself. I know "A Better Wrench" has been a great Merc place for many years, but Carrboro is a little farther than I'd like to drive, if I can avoid it.

Rare, unusual, 1986-1987 Mercedes with Cosworth cylinder heads, if that helps.

No, I don't own one yet. But I'm always on the lookout.

Renaissance Auto in Cary seems to do good work.

No actual firsthand experience with them, other than the fact that they do call me on occasion for used BMW parts. They work on all sorts of European cars, but seem to specialize mostly in BMW + MB.

MPowered Automotive in Cary has FULL MB and BMW Diagnostic capabilities and are by far the best shop I have ever been to. www.mpoweredautomotive.com

I Highly recommend them for both Mercedes and BMW service work!

They do good work, but are very expensive. I had an accessory belt snap on my 318is back in the day. I think they charged me around $300 to change out the accessory belts. This was back in '97 when I barely knew how to change my own oil

Now I could change those belts in about 20 minutes or less for about $50 for the parts. - AB

What Pete said, Dave Davis. He's the go to mechanic for Atlantic Auto and that's how I meet Dave. Great guy and better mechanic. I've been dealing w/ Dave for 5 years and have turned on numerous friends and no negatives from anyone.

I usually bought all of my parts through him as well. If you have a question from a DIY perspective, he'll help you out w/ advice and parts. Number is 829.9599. Not listed in the phone book. He's near the Raleigh farmers market off of Kirkland Dr at 1200 Suite 103. Call to get directions.
